I assume trying to run through Jamal Booker Jamal Booker 6'0" | 225 lbs | LB Waukesha South | 2027 State WI is similar to trying to run through a cement wall. The 6′ 225 lbs ILB is a monster in the middle of the Waukesha South defense. Especially when it comes to defending the run game between the tackles. Jamal only got to play two games this past season, but even in that short time his highlights show an athlete who runs over guys when he tackles them. The violent change of momentum when he meets and drives back an RB is jarring to watch at times. Jamal is so powerful and has really good timing between his contact and powerfully driving his lower body through his tackle. The dude is violent!

Jamal is an exciting LB/edge defender that already has a lot of varsity action under his belt. That experience could have him in position for a breakout season that includes a lot of backfield disruption for opposing offenses. Jamal’s ability to align at MLB or off the edge is a major strength to his game. He has the IQ and instincts to read and react from the middle and the athleticism to chase down the ball. You can also have him come off the edge with a solid first step and use his ability to bend to get around the corner on an OT. Booker brings the violence to the field that sets the tone down in and down out. Big things ahead for him.

Jamal has quickly become a key chess piece for the Waukesha South defense. You will see him lining up at ILB and off either edge on Friday nights. The 6′ 220 lbs sophomore is a powerful athlete who packs a punch behind his tackles and also shows a good initial pop when engaging and shedding blocks. Jamal is at his best against the run, whether it be setting a strong edge while taking on blocks or slicing through traffic to make tackles in the trenches. He is starting to evolve into that three down role though. The tape shows he can drop into a zone and read the QB and close on the catch point in time to make a play on the ball or deliver the hit instantly after the catch. Check him out.

Sophomore LB Jamal Booker Jamal Booker 6'0" | 225 lbs | LB Waukesha South | 2027 State WI has become an impactful, disruptive presence on varsity while still being an underclassman. Jamal is developing a wide array of traits to make plays. His first sack on tape came from a nice speed rush where he was able to beat the OT around the edge. The second sack came off of effort after fighting off a block, redirecting, and gang tackling the QB. Jamal also has shown that he has the strength and anchor to set a strong edge by standing up TEs or OTs at the line. Booker also proved he can disengage from those blocks and make the tackle himself too. The standout LB is putting together a good season of disruptive play. Check out the weekly highlights.

This season Jamal is holding down an ILB position compared to his OLB position last season, and the change fits him well. Jamal has a solid base of instincts and has developed the ability to quickly read and react. That gives him the ability to quickly flow with the play and meet RBs in the hole. The sophomore has enough range to be able to chase down plays outside the tackle box and he has the strength to be able to battle off blocks before making tackles. The sophomore made a nice play on his INT reading the QB’s eyes and letting the QB take him to where the ball was going to be. Check out one of the top LBs in the Class of 2027.
