rnJones has had a phenomenal senior season, helping to lead the Chargers to the semifinals. He is an athletic QB with a cannon for an arm and the ability to throw bombs on the run. Even though he has the skills needed to be a legitimate dual-threat, he does an excellent job of keeping his eyes downfield to scan for potential window openings to throw through and only running when he deems it necessary.

rnAs a thrower who can charge the line of scrimmage and throw at the last second or tuck the ball and outrun secondaries, Jones is a true difference-maker. So far, Jones has racked up 2,261 passing yards and 23 touchdowns with 11 interceptions on 158 completions on 279 attempts. As a runner, he has 825 yards and 16 touchdowns on 97 carries.

rnJones threw the state championship-winning touchdown pass for the Chargers during the program’s final year in the 4A classification as a sophomore, laying the groundwork for his final year as one of the bigger stock-risers in his class.

Jones is a duel-threat QB who is able to extend plays with his legs but keeps his eyes downfield, letting his receivers work to get open and hitting them downfield. He has good arm strength and excels at intermediate to deep passes making this one game to watch. He has the strength for punching the ball in when his team gets close to the endzone as he is hard to bring down. He is a player that is under the radar but this is his chance to get his name heard early in the season.

When you turn on the tape, Jones jumps out as a true duel-threat QB that is shifty in the pocket and can elude tacklers making throws on the run. He has good pocket presence and keeps his eyes down field, quickly scanning to find the open receiver and delivering a strike. He is able to move the pocket with his feet and excels at intermediate throws. When he hits his drop and drives off of his back foot he shows nice arm strength as well as touch on deeper throws. When he escapes the pocket and takes off he has the speed to out run the front 7 and can pick up chunk yardage on the ground. He is a under the radar player that will have a chance to raise his stock this season.
