is one of the most talented football players in the 2029 class, regardless of position. He’s extremely athletic, offers good size and has the versatility to play multiple positions. He made the move from Georgia to BGA this offseason, where he has shown a lot of good things.
Berte is a very well-built athlete, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 192 pounds. He’s lean, with a long frame, plenty of muscle and a body that allows him to add more weight. As I said earlier, he is playing several positions for Bobby Bentley. That said, his upside is best at safety.
I got to watch him at several workouts this offseason and have now seen it translate to the football field. Berte is a physical guy that is not afraid to tackle. He’s a good coverage player, moves well, has high football instincts, possesses strong technique and plays with a high motor.

Jake Berte comes to Battle Ground Academy after spending his freshman season at HIES in Georgia.
He has good size with a very strong build, standing around 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds.
He has good athleticism, ball skills and versatility that will make him an effective weapon for BGA, especially on defense.
He likely starts out at safety but long-term could grow into a linebacker prospect, depending on where he ends up physically. Regardless, the playmaking and size is clearly there.
