He also returns kickoffs for Eastern, where his speed and shiftiness make him a player for opposing defenses to game-plan around in multiple facets of the game.

McCown-Carter is a good athlete with legitimate potential on both sides of the ball. He shows good range and vision and looks comfortable making plays in space. Offensively, he has good hands and can get open down the field to make catches, giving him value as a receiving threat. Defensively, he shows good closing speed and instincts, allowing him to react quickly and make plays on the football. More than anything, he looks like a natural athlete who belongs on the field. Despite a frustrating and tough game, Jailen McCown-Carter Jailen McCown-Carter 5'10" | 140 lbs | WR/DB Trinity High School | 2029 KY looked to be the top WR on the 8^th Grade Kentucky Future Stars team in this year’s tilt against the Tennessee Future Stars. The Westport Middle Schooler turned Trinity High School prospect ran excellent routes and got himself open consistently.

In the first half he was targeted a team-high three times but it didn’t amount to much production. He was forced out of the back of the end zone on the first target, made a catch but was stopped short of the sticks on this second grab, and was wide open on the third target, but ball was under-thrown a bit and he couldn’t reel it in.

While he was kept at bay for most of the second half, he finally broke through with under a minute left in the fourth quarter. After a beautiful stop-and-go route that froze two Tennessee DB’s, he caught a rope from QB Austin Jacobson Austin Jacobson 6'0" | 179 lbs | QB St. Xavier | 2029 State KY and 46-yards later he was in the end zone for the lone Kentucky TD through the air.

Like David Lawless David Lawless 6'0" | 145 lbs | WR/DB Kentucky Country Day | 2029 State KY listed above, another impressive prospect off the 8th Grade Region 2 team of the KYMSFA BOTR tournament was Jailen McCown-Carter Jailen McCown-Carter 5'10" | 140 lbs | WR/DB Trinity High School | 2029 KY . He’s a nice option on the outside for this Kentucky team, especially with his propensity to simply go up and get the ball on 50/50 balls.

Carter is a fun WR to watch because he’s willing to be aggressive and fight for every ball that comes his way. He uses his length to his advantage and will make those contested grabs. He has good awareness of where he is on the field and does a fantastic job of ensuring he’s getting his feet in on the sidelines.
