Expert Analysis
Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
A tough and physical two-way player from Columbus, Jakai Harris is an impressive freshman who doesn’t mind contact at 6 foot, 190 pounds. He plays hard, he catches the football securely, and has no problem breaking tackles after the catch. He can make tackles on defense, but Harris showed that he is clearly one of the top young receivers in that area of West Georgia and possibly across the state as a freshman last season. He caught 45 passes last season for 581 yards and two touchdowns. He’s now ranked by Prep Redzone as the No. 3 wide receiver prospect in the state for his class with the potential to have a giant sophomore season next fall.

A three-way freshman who made a big impact in just about every phase of the game, Harris does a little bit of everything for his small Calvary Christian team. The playmaking athlete is a dependable defensive back and an excellent returner of special teams, but he also led the team in receiving this year in both catches (45) and yards (581). He brings above average speed and explosiveness and was one of the best players on the field all year long. Just a freshman, it’s clear Harris has his best football away ahead of him and should continue to make big plays no matter where he’s lined up. He was one of the top 2029 receivers in the state last fall and is bound for an even bigger sophomore season in 2026.

caught my eye in week 1, and now there is some more film to go off of. Harris is an intriguing athlete, coming in at a cut 6’0 190 and a T/F background that includes an 11.3 time in the 100M. Harris is a lot to handle for his current level of competition. He can separate with and without the ball and can jump high enough to win above the rim. He plays both ways as well. Harris has a chance to be a really fun player as he develops.
