Dodd brings speed and athleticism to the field. He lists his 40-yard dash time as 4.5 seconds and a vertical leap of 34 inches. Those natural gifts show up when watching his junior highlight video. The first-team all-district safety reads the action well and flies to the football once he quickly diagnoses the play. Dodd plays with physicality. In addition to getting downhill against the rush, he can stick with receivers in coverage. As an 11th-grader, 21 of Dodd’s 30.5 tackles were solo stops. He intercepted four passes, and was credited with two passes defended, a forced fumble and 1.5 tackles for loss. Dodd also flashed ability returning kicks and punts. He caught 10 balls and rushed for a touchdown.
