. Chappell had a strong senior season where he was very impressive against the run. He showed the ability to use his speed and high motor to run sideline to sideline to make tackles in the open field. Chappell finished the season with 85 tackles and six tackles for loss in 13 games. He also showed the ability to make plays in pass coverage, coming away with one interception. Chappell also returned one fumble recovery for a touchdown this season and finished the year as his team’s leading receiver with 35 catches for 562 yards and five touchdowns. Jack will be joining Smith at Eastern Kentucky where I can see the two of them being a very impressive duo together in the future.

, a linebacker at North Laurel High School. Chappell and the Jaguars picked up a 42-6 victory over Madison Southern this past week. Chappell stands out with his explosiveness on both sides, proving he can pick up yards on the ground as a receiver and make commanding stops on the other side. In addition to outstanding catching ability and electric speed after the catch, Chappell impresses me with his ability to read opposing offenses and protect the backfield.Access all of Prep Redzone

, a linebacker at North Laurel High School. Chappell and the Jaguars are coming off a 54-0 blowout win over Montgomery County last week. Chappell stood out on both sides for North Laurel in his last contest, contributing offensively as a receiver. On the offensive end, Chappell stood out with his breakaway speed, hauling in an impressive touchdown pass. On the other side of the ball, Chappell made a difference with his positioning and defensive awareness, proving he can make quick tackles, stop the rush and lock down the backfield.Access all of Prep Redzone

is another linebacker that has remained consistently high in our rankings. He had a solid junior season, finishing with 52 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two sacks. Jack is a big, physical outside linebacker that is very dangerous as a pass rusher. He plays with a very high motor, showing an explosive first step out of his stance and running straight through opposing offensive tackles on his way to the quarterback. Against the run, he does a great job of reading the play and bursting into the backfield quickly before opposing offensive linemen have a chance to block him. Chappell has also shown some ability in pass coverage, showing the ability to line up in a hybrid safety role at times. He finished this past season with one interception. Chappell currently holds an offer from Marshall and I expect more to come his way as he has received a lot of Division I interest and has the talent to play at the FBS level.

. He had a very strong junior year, finishing the season with 52 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, and one forced fumble. Chappell is a big, physical outside linebacker that plays with a very high motor. He comes off the edge with a full head of steam against both the run and the pass and drives straight through anyone who tries to block him. Once he gets to the ball carrier or quarterback, Chappell finishes his tackles with a ton of physicality. Chappell also has shown that he is reliable in pass coverage, showing the ability to play in a hybrid safety role at times. He finished his junior year with one interception. While Chappell hasn’t received any official offers yet, he has received a nice amount of interest from college programs and has the talent to play at the Division I level.

Playing primarily an outside linebacker position in the Jaguars multiple-front defensive look, Chappell exhibits the length, range and athleticism to cover underneath/intermediate routes effectively, as well as the strength and aggressiveness to walk up on the outsize shoulder of an offensive tackle or tight end and take on the interior power run game with equal success. Particularly in open field scenarios, he exhibits very active hands, exceptional blow delivery and the ability to get off blocks quickly. Likewise, his speed and inside-out leverage on ball carriers reflect a comprehension of team defensive concepts and negate the possibility of big plays resulting from poor positioning and/or flawed pursuit angles. Over the course of 11 games in 2022, Chappell compiled 15 solo tackles, 37 assists, 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble. While also playing tight end in some offensive personnel groupings, he collected 22 receptions for 275 yards and 3 touchdown catches.
