Wells is a middle linebacker who plays with great instincts, timing, and physicality. He consistently shows excellent blitz timing, shooting gaps untouched to sack the quarterback multiple times. His awareness stands out in zone coverage, as he reads the quarterback’s eyes and reacts quickly to scramble situations, making stops behind the line. Wells also diagnoses run plays efficiently, timing his run blitzes perfectly and tackling backs for losses. He plays with good closing speed and discipline, staying balanced while attacking downhill. To elevate his game, he could show more film of lateral pursuit, man coverage reps, and ball skills to display his range beyond the box.
