Ponca City’s defense is definitely going to be young this season as they have to replace the majority of their starters from last year’s team. But one bright spot is going to be right up front with 2024 defensive lineman

along that defensive front. Haas is a player that the Ponca City coaches really like because of his productivity and versatility he brings to the defensive side of the ball. It doesn’t matter where Haas lines up, he finds a way to be productive and make an impact on the field. And Ponca’s coaches are going to move him around quite a bit while they work in some of those new faces around Haas on the defensive side of the ball. We think that Haas could end up being one of the more productive defensive linemen in 6A-2 this fall.

We’re just telling you right now that Ponca City is a team to watch out for in 6A-2 this fall. And don’t say we didn’t warn you. The Wildcats have some serious talent in the 2024 class and one of those emerging prospects is defensive lineman

along the defensive front. Now, when we saw his listed height (6’2) and weight (235 pounds) we were skeptical about him along the line of scrimmage. But then we threw on the tape and all we saw was a game-wrecker that had a solid push up front. Haas is the energizer bunny of the Ponca City defense and flies all over the field to make play after play for the Wildcats. Another thing that we always look for is how does the prospect look against their toughest competition. It’s somewhat of a red flag if a prospect has a 7-10 minute highlight and there’s no clips against the top three teams that they played that season. That was not the case for Haas as he had plenty of production against some of Ponca City’s toughest opponents last fall. Haas does a great job of keeping his eyes in the backfield and with that, allows him to shed blocks at the perfect time to make a play on the ball carrier. But as a prospect, Haas is in the “tweener” category where he might be considered more of a linebacker at the next level. But you can’t argue with his production along the defensive line.
