Ponca City is one of the more intriguing teams in the 6A-2 playoffs. For the second straight season, they began the year 0-4 and then rattled off five straight wins to have a legitimate shot to get a first round bye. So anything can happen when Ponca City takes the field. One of their more intriguing players to watch is senior Gavin Cunningham Gavin Cunningham 6'4" | 195 lbs | WR Ponca City | 2024 State OK at the wide receiver position. Cunningham had a really good offseason and has carried that over to this season. He’s a wide receiver prospect that has good length and the ability to catch just about anything thrown his way. Cunningham and the Wildcats will play Putnam City West in the first round and that’s the marquee first round game in Class 6A-2.

2024 wide receiver Gavin Cunningham Gavin Cunningham 6'4" | 195 lbs | WR Ponca City | 2024 State OK is a wide receiver prospect we really like within the state’s 2024 class. Cunningham is a big and athletic wide receiver that’s a highlight play waiting to happen. The Wildcats are going to have a lot of success in the passing game this season with some of the names they have coming back. But Cunningham is definitely up there in terms of wide receivers in Class 6A-2 as we look ahead to the 2023 season. There aren’t many wide receivers that we would put ahead of Cunningham at this point and it feels like he’s primed for a massive season this fall. Cunningham put up some good numbers last year but he was just scratching the surface. He’s had a really good offseason and he should have a really strong 2023 campaign.

rnThe first of two players on this breakdown that were on the losing end on Friday night is Ponca City junior wide receiver . In a shootout loss to Sand Springs on the road, Cunningham was still a bright spot for the Wildcats. He would finish with nine catches for 183 yards and a hat trick for touchdowns with three. Cunningham is a long wide receiver in the 2024 class that we really think has the chance to be one of the better ones at his position. He certainly looks the part when it comes to his size and his abilities on the field. He’s starting to put it all together with his production on Friday night. Despite the loss, Cunningham is certainly going to be a player to watch for Ponca City moving forward and should be on the radar for coaches with the 2024 class.
