Another player making my “Top Performers” list for the second consecutive week is senior Harris Phelps Harris Phelps 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Paintsville | 2023 State KY from Paintsville. Phelps continued to do damage on the ground in Paintsville’s 42-16 victory over Bishop Brossart, carrying the ball 21 times for 155 yards and four touchdowns. Once he bursts through the running lane, Phelps doesn’t stop, showcasing his breakaway speed to run straight through the defense. He also has shown the ability to make defenders miss in the open field when they do get close enough to try to tackle him. Phelps also showed that he is a threat in the passing game, catching four passes for 64 yards on Friday. He also made an impact on defense, coming away with an interception. Harrison currently holds offers from Hanover, Centre, Grinnell, Kentucky Christian, and Denison, and I see him becoming a true impact player wherever he decides to play at the next level. Phelps and the Tigers will be on the road this week for a third round playoff match up with their rival, the Pikeville Panthers.

On offense, he had 21 total carries for 155 rushing yards & 4 touchdowns alongside 4 receptions for 64 receiving yards. On defense, he was able to complete 3 total tackles and an interception. Harris can do it all offensively as his speed & acceleration allow him to beat out the opposing defense whether it is a carry or a reception. When running the ball, Harris can find quick running lanes to use for him to bust out onto the open field with his speed. Along with that, Phelps is a fantastic route-runner and he uses that to his advantage so he can beat out the defensive back to make a big play. On defense, his speed & agility help him as well as he can cover multiple areas at once and keep the opposing assignment locked from making a play. Harris is an overall talented athlete that could fit well and play at a high level for any team no matter where you place him.

The senior running back helped lead Paintsville to a 36-14 win over Bracken County, carrying the ball 19 times for 220 yards and a touchdown. Phelps has very impressive vision as a ball carrier and bursts through the running lane once it opens. Once he hits the open field, good luck trying to catch him as Phelps has true breakaway speed which he uses to simply run away from the defense. Harris also showed the ability to catch passes out of the backfield, catching three passes for 23 yards and a touchdown this past week. He also made an impact on defense, finishing the game with an interception. Phelps currently holds offers from Centre, Hanover Grinnell, Kentucky Christian, and Denison, and I expect him to be a true impact player at the next level. He finished the 2021 season with 1,506 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns. Phelps bursts through the running lane out of his stance and has the breakaway speed to run right by defenders on his way to the end zone. He also has the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field. Phelps is also very reliable as a pass catcher and as a returner as he caught 14 passes for 194 yards last season, along with returning a kickoff for a touchdown. Harris currently holds offers from Centre, Hanover, Grinnell, and Kentucky Christian, and I expect that list to grow as he has been receiving a lot of college interest.
