Illinois brought out some heavy hitting prospects to NDSU’s first-ever FBS Prospect Camp up in Fargo earlier this month. Representing the skill positions, Wheaton St. Francis‘ Greg Bess-Henning was tearing it up as a WR, showing off that elite playmaking ability we’re used to seeing from Chicagoland offensive weapons and showing it often. Bess-Henning was a lethal, explosive route runner, and PRZ saw his cuts and jab steps leave a couple DBs staggering and slipping, just in the limited window we saw of him during 1v1s, and he could change tempo, was easily able to stack and pull away from DBs throughout a route, and showed off good ball skills, aided by his plus length. Explosive vertical ability as well. Bess-Henning was out there having fun it and was greedy in his win percentage during competitive 1v1s. Testing numbers were very impressive as well. No offers yet, somehow.

Bess-Henning had a breakout season recording 37 catches for 746 yards and 11 touchdowns for Carmel.  Silky smooth route runner that is money on the skinny and deep post routes.  Runs it about as well as anyone in the state.  Tracks the ball super well downfield and adjusts to it.  Has a knack for finding the weak spot deep on scramble plays. Slippery with the ball after the catch on shorter routes.

Gregory Bess-Henning II Gregory Bess-Henning II 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR/DB Wheaton St. Francis | 2028 State IL was the best wideout on the field who seemed to be the total package.  It is surprising to me that he does not have any offers yet.  At 6-foot-2, 177 with a big 75-inch wingspan, the Class of 2028 prospect is an X or Z at the next level.  He is tall and strong with a great size-speed combination. He was outstanding in every way, displays great ball skills and ability to high-point the ball and adjust low.  He displays good downfield speed, explosiveness and twitch and a good first step with soft hands to leap and snatch the ball out of the air. He has immense potential to grow and has tremendous upside.

Freshman standout Gregory Bess Henning II from Carmel High School is an electrifying playmaker with a bright future. His ability to change the game with the ball in his hands is undeniable. As a dynamic returner on special teams, he’s a threat to score from anywhere on the field. He also excels at turning short passes into big gains, using his speed and vision to create explosive plays. Defenses struggle to contain him in space, as he effortlessly weaves through traffic with sharp cuts and acceleration. With his playmaking ability already on full display, Henning is poised to become one of the top young talents in the state.
