As a junior, Young recorded 18 tackles, 2 TFLs, a sack, and an INT. Effective as an OLB, Young plays with a high motor around the edge, being able to get into the backfield quickly to disrupt the pass and shut down the run, while also working well outside the box to contain the ball-carrier. With some extra size, Young could bring even more to the table as a LB/Overhang defender who could bring hybrid value at the next level.

A built OLB who is looking to finally get starting time in 2025, Young’s film from last season was a promising showcase of the now junior’s talent. He was primarily a special-teams player last season, seeing some occasional rotation minutes. He’s powerful when he can build up a head full of steam, and I admire his pursuit abilities. I hope to see Young’s physicality translate to stellar tape during his fall campaign.

Young did a great job at maintaining a low stance and slight arch while running, and he did a solid job at pinning the inside hip of the RB during the 1-on-1 drills. Young also proved to be difficult to contain, as he flashed plenty of power against the RB blocks, winning on the inside shoulder with strength and solid rip moves that allowed him to win most of his reps on Sunday. Young is developing at a steady rate, and that could parlay into him finding much more playing time next season on the varsity lineup for St. Thomas Academy’s defense.
