I wrote about Kafentzis’ tape in July first and recognized an extremely versatile receiver. He’s aggressive when high pointing, has great hands and is quick and speedy on screens. He put it all on display and added flair in Week 3 against Sumner, catching 9 passes and taking 3 of them to the end zone for 167 yards. He showed off his explosiveness by hurdling a defender cleanly, and switched fields to take another score all the way to the house. His instincts also take over on defense as a Safety too, both as he comes up and hits like a truck in the run game as a box safety, and when patrolling the defensive backfield as he reads early and covers ground to use his natural ball skills. He’s on one of the most loaded WR corps in the state but deserves far more attention, as one of the premier uncommitted seniors left in the state. Don’t be surprised if he makes some of the most pivotal plays in the playoffs this year and is a D1 player next year.

Gio has been on a TEAR to start his senior season. He may be a bit undersized standing at 5’8″ but he makes up for it with his incredible natural talent. To me, he’s a top 5 WR in his class and should have offers from big time programs. He creates space well and rarely drops the ball. During week 3 he had 9 catches for 167 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Kafentzis is a massive big play threat who’s underlooked due to his size but could be one of the most underrated players in the state. He consistently finds the defense’s greatest weakness and exposes it, a role that’s helped him be massively effective at Emerald Ridge in a complementary receiving role to recent Idaho commit Tony Harste Tony Harste 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Emerald Ridge | 2024 State WA . He’s been raved about the past few weeks after capping off a strong camp season with WR and DB MVP awards at Eastern Washington’s Team Camp two weekends ago. He received his first full scholarship offer from Nevada on the same day and has been buzzing since. His tape shows great hands, impressive YAC and running ability highlighted by stiff arms and great angles, jump ball ability with great timing, chemistry and trust in the play, and the ability to beat a defense over the top with athleticism. He has the instincts to school defenders in whichever way they present themselves, whether a slight advantage in footwork or hip mobility or a reliance on short cushions or deep zones- Gio will exploit it. He’s had to carve out the most efficient ways to threaten defenses playing alongside several of the state’s other big receiving talents and become a much more cerebral player as a result. His effectiveness is built on a strong foundation of skill and study of the game that will lead to readiness wherever he goes.

Gio is incredibly talented on the football field, already being ranked as a top 5 wide receiver in the 2024 class. Having one of the best passers in the class throwing him the ball, it makes his job a lot easier. Week 4 against Curtis HS, he showed his ability to make defenders miss in the open field, leading to many big gains. He runs route extremely well, using his quick feet to separate himself from the defensive back, one of his touchdown passes was placed perfectly by his quarterback for an over the shoulder catch that landed perfectly in his arms. The junior finished with 9 catches for 157 yards and 3 touchdowns on the night.
