Expert Analysis
Caleb Holfoth | Prep Redzone Scout
He is worth mentioning because of his success this year and because he is not technically a football commit – Parks, a Dartmouth Lacrosse Commit, has been the best-producing RB in Section V this season. His Junior tape was solid RB tape – this year, Parks has been on another level – he is one of the better overall athletes in Rochester, as evidenced by his Lacrosse acumen, but has been huge in the success of a currently undefeated Brighton team.

Parks is part of a really strong group of running backs coming out of Section V this season, and he runs as hard as just about any of them. Parks does a really good job of being patient. He follows his blockers well and does an excellent job of knowing when to accelerate and use short-area quickness to sidestep defenders. He may not be the biggest or the strongest, but he plays with a great motor.

out of Brighton who has a ton of accolades already in his career is the workhorse of a talented Brighton team. Parks runs with suddenness and elusiveness that make him hard to bring down in traffic and showcases good speed and burst to escape defenders. Parks runs with really good patience around the LOS and lets his blocks develop before hitting open space at full speed. Brighton pulls a lot of their offensive lineman so Parks patience as a runner is a big reason they are so successful running the ball.

Showed exactly why he’s probably one of the top running backs in section v regardless of classification. Helped to spark and power the Brighton offense all night, ripping off timely big runs to keep the Bruins. Gavin scored the only touchdown of the game for Brighton en route to his 203 yards on 31 carry performance.

from Brighton High School. In addition to RB, Parks plays the LB position where he was able to rack up 43 total tackles. Gavin is fluid in his ability to read, react, and attack low when he produced at the LB position for Brighton.
However, over at the RB position is where Parks shined the most on the football field. In this past season, Parks ended with 9 TDs and averaged 6.85 yards per carry on his 135 attempts. The 5’10”, 170-pound back ended with a grand total of 925 rushing yards. Since Gavin fell short of 1,000 yards, his top goal on the side of winning a sectional championship, is to hit that 1,000-yard mark. If Parks is featured the same it was in his sophomore season, there is no doubt in my mind he can hit that mark of 1,000 yards. Many of Gavin’s rushes came out of the shotgun formation where he would make small jump cuts and was patient to let his blocks unfold before he took off for huge gains.
When given open space to run, Parks does a skillful job of attacking near the sideline and using his pure speed to outrun the entire defense. Getting outside the hashes where open space was present was a huge signature in his game. Parks reads the entire field at a high level and sees even the littlest holes to gain positive yardage. The rare ability to change directions in a flash with his quick feet was put on full display in between the tackles. Avoiding tackles and being able to weave from outside to inside so rapidity separates him from a lot of RBs in the Rochester region. The purest ability to fight for extra yardage was consistent throughout his play. Parks is going to be one exciting player to watch this fall.
