QB5 in the Minnesota 2025 class was once again on the money last night in Savage. This is the 5th or 6th exposure point PRzMN has had on the younger Dean in which the Lakeville South Cougar has impressed. You could absolutely see why Dean is a scholarship QB signing heading to Sioux Falls after his senior year, as the 5’11, 170 lber. didn’t seem to miss a throw for the first two hours of the event, displaying consistent mechanics, smooth footwork, a tight, compact throwing motion, and a quick release, and on-the-money accuracy, especially on first and second-level throws. Plus, he could really whip the pigskin and was quietly locked in and competitive throughout the night. Sioux Falls got a good one!

Dean used his legs early with a short touchdown run. He played a great – understated game. The senior put the ball up seven times and completed six passes. He made all the easy throws, used the play-action pass well, and took a few deeper- successful – shots.

Gaven is a 2025 prospect that has shined during the Midwest 7v7 circuit before, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to our Minnesota subscribers that the Lakeville South quarterback appears on our standout list yet again. The release we saw last Spring has certainly more fluidity and speed to it, as I felt Gaven’s balance in the pocket had also improved from the reps I watched out of him throughout Friday night. I also felt Gaven was one of the most less uncomfortable 2025 quarterback prospects during the off-platform throwing drills, as if you watch the tape this kid’s durability y is fearless which is why I could tell his vision was relatively unphased by some pressure. Gaven certainly fits the bill as a 2025 prospect that will get some attention this summer, as having the family college football pedigree (Camden, his brother, is a QB at Sioux Falls) always helps the speed of younger brother’s development.

The younger brother of former Lakeville South turned MSU-Mankato now University of Sioux Falls 5’11 QB Camden Dean, 2025er Gaven shows a ton of the same arm talent possessed by his elder sibling and went 8-0 leading the JV team of the Cougars in 2022. A playmaker with either his arm or his legs, Dean can stretch the field vertically and easily over a chasing DB’s head and right into the breadbasket of his wideout. Also shows the capacity to throw accurately on the run, Dean can take off and really hurt a defense as a ball carrier and does a good job of leading his WRs open, especially when passing to the flats on out-breaking routes and allowing his WRs to tip-toe the sideline. I can’t wait to see this kid play varsity and his ranking should vastly improve once he sees big-time reps.
