Expert Analysis
Oliver West | Prep Redzone Scout
Gage West, a rising senior out of Sturgis Brown High School in South Dakota, was one of the best built prospects at the entire NDSU FBS Prospect Camp. Sculpted, well-defined, and cut up in eye-catching fashion, West was a no-doubt First Team All-Eye Test selection who had the play and versatility to match. Explosive in-and-out of his breaks and overall rangy, West played fast and physical, and he had the make-up speed to play aggressively in coverage against both RBs and TEs alike. West produced some good PBUs throughout 1v1 competition against RBs and TEs, especially with the speed, quickness, and loose hips, and the 210 lber. was also a hammer during pass pro reps. I loved watching this kid play football.

Gage is a sure-handed tight end that for is size is more of a hybrid between tight end and wide receiver as I feel he could play in either spot at the next-level. He’s one of the more well-rounded tight ends in this 2027 South Dakota class with his skillsets he’s produced as Gage is a sound pass-blocker with great pad-level, well-versed angles and is one that surely can finish right away when you roll the tape. He’s fluid as a route-runner and once he gets to the second level he shows great seperation ability around the edges fo the field. Another one that doesn’t have an offer yet, but should here very soon as our TE3 and rising in South Dakota.

as we go back to back in these evals with prospects that don’t take long to show their physicality as blockers.
-The 6’3 210 pound for the Scoopers, is a sound pass catcher that can excel in open space and has some of the better tight end hands I have seen in this 2027 SD class thus far.
-He surely looks like one that would be a great fit to play on Saturdays at the scholarship level.
