It was stiff competition for our defensive player of the year with several players up for consideration but in the end, it was hard to look past Bowman and his exceptional sophomore campaign. Competing as a first year starter, Bowman made a big splash by producing 155 total tackles with 19.5 of them for loss along with 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception and 16 sacks on the year. The Knights sophomore linebacker was a tackling machine last year that displayed excellent instincts and a nose for the ball that should only improve as Bowman continues to grow and learn the game further. Having this kind of season puts Bowman on the radar to earn this honor again before his high school career is over.
