Evrett actually spent the year playing LB for Regis, and that alone is a great reason why we are going to use the senior’s tackling ability for our Perfect DB. The senior closes quickly, strikes hard, wraps up, and runs his feet through his hits. Tait also will take the opportunities to really lower a shoulder and lay a hit on a ball carrier when he can. Plus the senior DB does a good job of trying and succeeding at getting the football out while tackling. I’m excited to watch him go back to DB at NDSU.

. He already has years of productive experience on varsity. His combination of versatility within the safety position, athletic profile, and physicality are hard to find at the HS level. One of the most valuable things a safety can do is be reliable in the three main areas of the position. Can you fill against the run from the safety position because of your range? Can you line up in the box and navigate the trash to stop the run? Do you have the football IQ and range to be able to fly around the back end of the defense reading the QB and disrupting passes? Lastly, do you have the quick feet and hips plus the reactive athleticism to be able to play man to man coverage? Tait is one of the few safeties who can be trusted in those roles. His 4.5 40 and 36″ vertical illustrate his long speed and explosiveness. Add is hard hitting tackling that opponents wake up feeling the next day and you get an impressive safety prospect. He holds offers from Mankato, Winona State, and Duluth so far. Check out his best plays in the tweet below.

Evrett took the next step in his junior season. He proved to be the superior athlete on every field he stepped on in 2023. On both offense and defense, the 6′ 185 lbs junior plays at a different speed. He can pull away in the open field, roam a large region of the field, and close quickly or make people miss in tight quarters. Evrett is able to play even faster because he is so quick to process or make decisions. The junior also trusts what he sees. Tait plays loose and fast. This offseason, I expect to see Evrett make the rounds on the camp circuit, put up impressive numbers, and prove to be able to matchup well with most athletes on the field.

The top college prospect in this game was the standout junior from Regis. Evrett looks more and more the part of a high level college DB every time I watch him in person. He is now listed at 6’2″ 187 lbs, and the ’25 moves with it easily, naturally, and smoothly. I mentioned it on Twitter during the game, and it needs to be repeated. Evrett possesses all the explosive traits for the next level that you need in DBs. Quick feet and loose hips to run in man coverage. Excellent quick twitch, acceleration, and change of direction. All these traits also stood out on offense where Tait made multiple big plays at RB. The #1 DB in the Class of 2025 may need to be looked at more as an ATH.

Stock Movement: Up 20 SpotsrnEvrett made a big move during these rankings updates, and has now taken over the spot of DB1 to along with his Top 20 overall rank. The 6′ 185 lbs junior looks the part of a next level DB, and this summer he proved that he has the athleticism to play like one too. His camp numbers include a 4.50 40 yard dash, 4.12 5-10-5, 34″ vertical, a 6.86 L-Drill, and a 9’4″ broad jump. Those numbers match what we saw from him as a sophomore on the way to a State Championship. Tait is a rangy DB who is able to cover ground thanks to his speed, but also has the instincts and football IQ to allow him to be another step ahead of the offense. His aggressive, downhill play against the run rounds out his three level versatility at the safety position. Watching his intra-squad scrimmage highlights has me thinking we will be seeing him quite a bit on offense as well. Get ready for a big year from the Regis standout.

showed off another impressive showing after watching him at our spring Minnesota Showcase and now this Wednesday in Dinkytown in Minnesota. Evrett has a long striding ability that plays way deeper than his 6’0 185 pound measurables as I loved watching this kid’s finish in his reps I caught at the Minnesota camp. Evrett showed off as a linebacker at this Minnesota camp, but he has a significant amount of positional flexibility as a certified swiss-army knife that excels on all three levels of the field. Evrett showed off some heavy explosion levels at the Minnesota camp with his physicality as this young man is what you are looking for if you want a smash-mouth football prospect and plays with a high plethora of range he can cover. I see Evrett’s best fit positionally at the next-level being in the secondary, as watching his physical presence should attract DB coaches at the next-level to his skilsets.

out of Regis HS. The 6′ 175 lbs student athlete has the athleticism needed to be able to play at the next level, and dominate the HS level. His acceleration from a complete stop jumps off the tape, and they used it at Regis to get several blocked punts. On offense, that acceleration is also key for his role. Tait would stretch the defense horizontally, read his blocks and find the lane, then burst to top speed from there. On defense, Tait proved to have the range to be able to go from 15 yards deep to the line of scrimmage to make a stop against the run. He was also able to track down tackles from across the field. I’m excited to see how he looks both ways this fall.
I think his biggest breakout will be on offense.. He is the most productive returning rusher on the team with 33 carries, 166 yards, and 4 TDs. The four athletes who had more production ahead of him all graduate in June leaving a monster voided workload. I don’t expect him to pic kit all up, but we could see Tait push for 1,000 rushing yards while also locking down the safety position.

The underclassman out of Regis HS is an athlete. Plain and simple. We had him ranked as an RB coming into the fall. He registered as a WR for the Showcase. The sophomore left the day with a rep in the Best vs Best battles as a DB. Just get the 6′ 175 lbs underclassman on the field and let him stand out. Tait had an elite 4.25 in the 5-10-5 Drill, and broad jumped 9’10”. At DB, Evrett leaned on his athleticism. He has experience at safety, but not much playing man coverage. Tait did a solid job of flipping his hips and running with receivers. He was aggressive at the catch point to break up passes. Last, it is well worth noting that the young man came out and competed. He didn’t shy away from any reps, and went all out every snap. An ATH/DB to follow.
