Posted his midseason highlight tape on October 1. I recently saw him live last week against St. Joe’s Prep, where he made several impressive plays against one of the more talented offenses around, regardless of which players were available.
I also need to update his measurables. He is now listed at 5’7, 165 pounds, which is 15 pounds heavier than when we last recorded his weight. He carries a 3.7 GPA, participates in multiple sports and is currently ranked as a future Division II prospect.
The more I see him this season, which is already twice, the more inclined I am to elevate his ranking. He already received a bump back in Week 4, and there is a legitimate possibility he receives another.
His midseason tape runs approximately two and a half minutes and immediately opens with a special teams rep in which he returns a punt for a touchdown.
Right away, he proves to college coaches that he is much more than just a defensive back. There is a legitimate playmaker here with the football in his hands, someone who can impact the game in multiple ways.
I love him at defensive back, however. He works as an outside corner and has shown the ability to match up with receivers who are inevitably going to be taller than he is.
His second rep features an interception that he returns all the way for a touchdown. Another tremendous example of his ball skills, awareness and overall playmaking ability.
He is the type of prospect who consistently puts himself in position to make something happen. Good things seem to follow him around the football field, and that is rarely a coincidence.
Another rep has him working offensively at wide receiver. As the play begins to break down, he does a great job working with his quarterback, crossing the field and making himself available.
Once he gets the football, he showcases his acceleration and pulls away from the defense for another touchdown.
At this point, he has already scored in all three phases of the game on his midseason tape: a punt return touchdown, a defensive touchdown on an interception return and an offensive touchdown as a wide receiver.
That is impressive versatility.
Another rep features him running a streak for an easy six points. His speed, awareness, football IQ and subtle route running ability are all evident. He doesn’t need to overcomplicate his movements to create separation or make an impact.
He is a weapon who can be deployed in all three phases of the game, and Cardinal O’Hara is clearly benefiting from that versatility.
He has become one of the biggest stock risers among Philadelphia Catholic League prospects this season, especially out of Cardinal O’Hara.
Quite frankly, he is playing better than I anticipated heading into the season.
Between what I have seen live on two separate occasions, his improved physical profile and the playmaking ability showcased throughout his midseason tape, he is giving me every reason to reconsider his current ranking.
He already earned one elevation in Week 4, and I wouldn’t be surprised if another is coming.
Very happy to see him performing this well.

is a talented athlete who played both defensive back and wide receiver for Cardinal O’Hara last year. As a defensive back, he is a complete player. His ability to cover and make tackles in the open field is impressive. He has excellent ball skills, and he gets his hands on balls thrown near him when he is in coverage. He also made an impact on offense with his ability to play as a slot receiver at a high level. He catches the ball well and makes defenders miss well. Martinez is a complete player on both sides of the ball.
