Expert Analysis
Zack Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
Welbourne’s delivered some of the most impressive WR performances in Nevada through the early part of the season. The senior wideout put together one of the most productive outings of his career this past week with 7 catches for 153 yards and 3 TDs in a win over Sunrise Mountain. He’s an underrated athlete that’s continued to prove himself as a valuable downfield weapon since showing flashes of his vertical skillset as a junior. He gains ground on DBs with smooth, deceptive speed, is a playmaker with the ball in his hands, and finishes catches with focused ball-tracking, ability to high-point, and reliable hands. He’s also a well-rounded, versatile player that plays in all three phases for Boulder City. Welbourne- currently a watchlist WR in PRZ NV’s 2025 rankings- is putting together a senior season that should land him in the official rankings in the next cycle.

Nevada’s current leader in receiving TDs continued his impressive start with 7 catches for 153 yards and 3 TDs in Boulder City’s 43-42 shootout win over Sunrise Mountain. The 6’/160 WR is proving to be an explosive downfield weapon this season. He’s shown impressive verticality, competitiveness, and ball-tracking in 1v1 high-point situations and possesses translatable skills on the ball in the defensive secondary. Welbourne’s stock is on the rise early into his senior season.

Welbourne opened up his senior season with 3 catches for 3 TDs and added a rushing TD in Boulder City’s 43-0 win over Valley. The 6’/165 wideout showed his explosiveness as a vertical threat extending over the top of the secondary to haul in two long TDs. He has strong ball skills, tracks the ball extremely well, and is highly competitive at the catch-point. He looks more developed athletically this season showing his speed and elusiveness after the catch on a 50+ yard catch-and-run off a quick slant. Welbourne- a 2025 watchlist WR- could find himself in the official rankings in the near future as he continues to be a primary playmaker for Boulder City.

had quite a productive junior season playing for Boulder City. Finishing the year with 1178 all-purpose yards (averaging 117.8 per game), he was doing everything for his team. Welbourne’s going to have a hard time topping that in his final high school season, but the elusive wideout has all the skills to do it. He’s shown a good ability to make tough catches through contact and still be able to come down with them. Where he really does his damage is after the catch. Not only does he have vision like a running back, but he’s just about as hard to bring down as most of them too. I’m excited to watch and see what Welbourne can do in his senior year, and I’m sure I won’t be the only one following along.
