About Dylan
Expert Analysis
Josh White | Prep Redzone Scout
Smith’s arm talent immediately stands out on tape. The pace of the ball, consistent zip, and deep-ball accuracy s. His rapid-fire release allows him to get the ball out quickly without sacrificing velocity, and he consistently drives throws to every level of the field with confidence. His deep ball is top tier- it’s rare to see a ball hit the ground when he’s throwing it. The distance, trajectory, and touch allow for receivers to routinely run under the ball and finish plays in the end zone. Smith’s extremely live arm, quick mechanics, and natural zip give him the foundation to attack every blade of grass and force defenses to be on their heels.

Dylan Smith Dylan Smith 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Pelham | 2027 State AL is a talented QB from Pelham who had a breakout season last fall and is making his debut as our #9 QB and #109 overall player in the state.
“Smith is a highly intelligent passer who never gives defenses a chance to think twice. He’s a quick, smart decision-maker with the ball who gets his passes off within milliseconds of the snap, constantly keeping defenders on their toes.
On top of that, Smith has a really talented arm. He can make tough throws all over the field, and even on the run. He has great ball placement on his passes and does a terrific job of hitting his WRs in stride to create explosive plays. We saw a ton of great things last season, but I think Pelham has a huge year on the horizon in 2026 with Smith leading the way. We all need to keep watch.”
I was especially impressed by Smith and WR Marcus Arnold Marcus Arnold 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Pelham | 2027 State AL ‘s chemistry this past season; they connected for a ton of huge plays all year long. I think they both will have huge senior seasons together next fall, in the meantime, check out some of Smith’s tape below:

Similar to Garner, Smith was highly productive as a junior and is impressive traits-wise, but the recruiting noise is still quiet. He is a stout baseball athlete who plays catcher, and you can tell from his build. Strong, built from the ground up with plenty of horsepower. Smith touches each part of the yard, and he does it off-platform and on the move. Easy arm strength with the finesse to move it up and down. Plays with good timing and placement, too. Well-rounded player who should garner FCS love as a QB. Love the tape here.

Smith is a strong, big-bodied QB prospect who has taken a massive leap forward as a junior and is one of the most productive passers in the state. He is a durable presence in the pocket, and his size can come in handy on short-yardage situations. He is a rhythm-based passer who throws with good timing on the RPO and short area throws, picking apart defenses where they give him opportunities to. He has a strong enough arm to muscle it over the top, but projects more as a dispenser to opportunities underneath. His size and production set the intrigue here.
