12. Diamond Athletics

A shame I didn’t get DJ Kelly on tape, same for our videographer man. Good thing is, I was able to catch three Diamond Athletics games with my eyes. In three total games with DJ Kelly at safety, Diamond Athletics gave up just TWO touchdowns. It’s a testament to the entire defense, especially to the SFA star holding down the fort at safety. A shutout against SWAG and VA Airstike, with Nuke Squad managing to get two TDs on the board. An alpha on the field, a barker in terms of communication. Kelly’s efforts on offense are icing on the cake, I’d place Kelly on this list had he solely played one position. Kelly, of course, can do it all. Happy he came through.

Dwayne Kelly’s film is electric. In the 1st play of the film he takes a bubble screen 50 yards to the end zone. Two plays later he takes a hitch and breaks 4 tackles to the end zone. Kelly is an elite athlete who played wide receiver and defensive back for Allentown Central Catholic. He has elite athleticism and speed to play either position at the next level. Kelly recently picked up offers from Temple, Maryland, James Madison, and the Army. I expect more to come his way. Kelly is a talented player.

Far and away the best WR/DB two-way player mentioned on this list thus far. Films backs up the notion. Equally stout an outside lane corner as he is a weapon on offense.

Natural open-field playmaker. Near top-tier DB skills, length at the position is a plus. Blends physicality, length, hands, and technique when at DB. Suspect he’ll earn his fair share of FCS offers spanning between now and January.

Bethlehem Catholic has put out sleeper prospects that I miss on far too often. I won’t make the same mistake again with sophomore DB playmaker Dwayne Kelly Jr.. Kelly boasts a desirable defensive back frame, 6’1, 170. Kelly displays phenomenal awareness and anticipation, specifically when in support of surrounding LBs or safeties. Obvious attention to passing concepts pre-snap/throw, Kelly is in consistent position to make a play on the football, he comes down with PBUs and interceptions more times than not. Hands are real, on both sides of the football. Can get slippery after the catch, again, on both sides of the field. Kelly plays through the hip of wideouts, maintains leverage. The angles he takes to the football are that of a veteran prospect, yet just a sophomore. His tape lands him inside the top 50.
