Drew is another LB standout who projects as a hybrid S/LB at the next level. Taber plays on the edge or just off the edge in the slot depending on the offensive alignment. Drew has a well rounded combination of power and athleticism that allows him to win as an edge setter, playing in space, or blitzing the edge. Drew has a solid frame, but is usually at a disadvantage vs OL. Yet we see him constantly be able to fight through blocks to the football. You will find the junior all over the field and is a key defender to know in the Class of 2027.

Another defender for De Pere who seemed to be all over the field was junior Drew Taber Drew Taber 6'2" | 220 lbs | ATH/LB De Pere | 2027 State WI . The OLB/S hybrid fits that role perfectly. He has the athleticism to play in space and cover receiving threats or use that speed to chase down the ball across the formation or the field. But the junior can also flip the switch and play with violence from his tackling to fighting through traffic to fill against the run. Drew has an intriguing blend of power and athleticism within his 6’1″ 200+ lbs frame that a DC can get creative with at the next level. I’m pumped for his upcoming offseason and camp season.

Drew is one of a few athletes who actually participated in both sessions. Session 1 he spent time at RB showing quick feet, balance to cut, and reliable hands out of the backfield. In session 2 the sophomore participated as a DB. The 6′ 186 lbs ’27 already has an excellent frame and his ability to play agile in sudden, short areas has me excited for his future. Even at his size, Drew ran a 7.18 L-Drill, jumped 9’1″, and had a 4.48 shuttle. Taber played both ways on JV for De Pere and even was able to earn time on varsity. The RB/S brings physicality and athleticism to the field and still has plenty of time for development ahead of him. Keep an eye on him over the coming years.
