Japp is an instinctive linebacker with the athleticism to impact every level of the defense. His sideline to sideline speed allows him to track down ball carriers while also giving him the versatility to drop comfortably into coverage against tight ends and running backs. He diagnoses plays quickly, flows naturally to the football and attacks running lanes with confidence by shooting gaps before blockers can react. Japp also shows good ball skills, putting himself in position to either create turnovers with interceptions or being able to breakup passes. His combination of range, instincts and physicality gives him the tools to become one of the more intriguing linebackers in the 2027 class if his production continues to increase.
