Corlew is actually one of my favorite finds over the last couple of years. He is a lanky kid with a ton of athletic upside. He can go up for 50/50 balls with anyone and be competitive, and I love how hard he plays on both sides of the ball. A true 2 way kid that always does what he’s asked, and does it to a high level. Multiple times I have watched him run or catch a touchdown, and then plays later make a game changing play defensively. I truly think he is a D2 kid at worst and I would be surprised if offers don’t roll in after he has a productive 2024 season.

I actually really like Trace as a receiver, though he can really do it all. All year he was outside and lined up at RB here and there. He is a very natural runner and has long strides. He runs good routes, but what I really like is his big physical frame and the ability to win jump balls, while also being really good at getting yards after catch and making guys miss in space. I think Trace could follow his teammate from last season Jhace Massey and end up at a GLIAC school. Given some more college level coaching may turn him from good to great quickly.

Corlew was a big X factor for the G’s coming into this game, and he did not disappoint. He was able to find the end zone, and consistently stretch the defense, and drew a ton of attention, opening up the offense a ton. His physical gifts are really solid, as his motion is natural when breaking on routes, and running with the ball, and making big blocks at times where it was needed. I know he is another one that coaches at the next level are noticing, so I think recruiting could take off for him soon, and it will be well deserved.

The Gladwin secondary was one of the most impressive units I got to watch last season, and I remember making the comment that they were extremely long, lanky and would completely shut down any team that dares pass. One of the most vital parts of that was Corlew, who is a ballhawk, and can go up and get it from their intended targets. Not only that, but he jams receivers off the line and makes their life a lot more difficult to get open. He’s got the size and technique to really be one of the best DB’s in the Mid- Michigan area. Another impressive part is he is a really good kick return guy, and I watched him take one to the house in the semi- finals to lift his squad to the state championship. QB’s beware, when he breaks on the ball it is probably going the other way. I can’t wait to see how he has improved in the offseason.
