Continue ReadingPoints were coming in bunches Friday night, as both teams were able to move the ball effectively both on the ground and in the air. After jumping out to a lead, Clare was looking to be in position to roll over the defending state champions from Gladwin. The longer the game wore on, the G’s were able to find their rhythm, eventually taking the lead and not looking back. Gladwin wound up with a 44-28 win, but the score isn’t indicative of how back and forth this game actually was. This article will highlight some of the fantastic offensive players we got to check out in Clare on Friday.
Ryan Louch
Ryan Louch
Louch started off with a bang, darn near taking back the opening kickoff, and subsequently scoring the first TD of the game. As the game wore on, it became more and more apparent how talented this kid is. He was making catches left and right and finding the holes in the defense. He ran really clean routes, and showed off some really good hands. He was one of the best overall athletes we got to see in the game, even having an interception and a plethora of tackles defensively. His trajectory is very positive, and I could see some recruitment coming soon.
Jhace Massey

The most impressive performance of the night was brought on by Jhace. He truly looked to be the best player on the field Friday night. To start the game, he was running, catching and making tackles all over the field. Eventually his role had to evolve as he had to come in as the 3rd string QB. He really took over the game at that point, throwing for 2 touchdowns, and running in 3. He showed that he is was the best athlete on the field, and made sure everyone knew it. The G’s would not have been able to make the run they did without Massey completely taking over the game. This is a Saturday player no doubt, and from some college coaches I have talked to, they’re thinking the same thing.
Jayden Arthur
Jayden Arthur
Clare actually surprised me with their passing attack. I got to see Arthur play last year against Gladwin, and this year he showed a ton of maturity and improvement on his craft. He seemed more confident throwing it, running it, and was making much quicker and better decisions. Clare should feel very good about him the rest of this season and going into next as well. His development seems well on track, and Clare is going to be an extremely tough out going forward. The passing game is steadily improving, and with his ability to go mobile is a nice touch to see develop as well. Keep an eye on this kid this season, he will continue to impress.
Corlew was a big X factor for the G’s coming into this game, and he did not disappoint. He was able to find the end zone, and consistently stretch the defense, and drew a ton of attention, opening up the offense a ton. His physical gifts are really solid, as his motion is natural when breaking on routes, and running with the ball, and making big blocks at times where it was needed. I know he is another one that coaches at the next level are noticing, so I think recruiting could take off for him soon, and it will be well deserved.

Colton Pfenninger
Colton Pfenninger
Sophomore QBs don’t typically command the offense as well as Colton was before his injury took him out of the game. While it is not a whole game, the sample size was good enough to show that Colton has great leadership qualities, and has the physical tools to develop into a really strong QB prospect. His throws were pretty much always on time, and the accuracy was solid. He even showed some deep ball ability at times. Obviously he is young and will continue to evolve, but from what was shown in the half he was able to play, he will be a terror in the Jack Pine Conference for a few years to come.
