David surely showed that he was the bellcow at running back behind this Breckenridge offense. The 5’10 210 pounder, logged 24 carries for 123 rushing yards, and I can assure you every yard David got was a hard-earned as he was one of the more gritty north-south running backs I saw on the afternoon as a second teamer at running back on our All-Prep Bowl Team. He doesnt’ wait for contact, he ate up contact on his carries and surely should be a great NSIC fit with a handful of offers thus far.

The younger brother of 6′, 250 lb. University of Jamestown senior DE Daniel Erlandson, Breckenridge’s junior RB David Erlandson David Erlandson 5'10" | 215 lbs | RB Breckenridge | 2026 State MN has consistently put out nothing but electric carries, broken tackles, and explosive film since he entered the high school ranks. Thanks to some impressive weight room numbers, including a 275 lb. bench press, 385 lb. squat, and 265 lb. clean, Erlandson slices and slips through tackle attempts like a knife through butter, in large part due to his sudden footwork and wiggly hips, and his quick feet and powerful lower body are a tough combination for opponents to try and tackle 1v1, as he creates tough angles at the last second and has the leg strength to work and power through tackle attempts at his lower body. The 205 lber. displays a frantic running style, combined with both power and finesse, making him a ball carrier you can’t take your eyes off of. The Breck product has done a great job of improving his speed this past offseason and has added an explosive dimension to his skillset that showed he could crack open a defense and finish big runs for six. Erlandson also demonstrates sudden footwork, broke some ankles, and had some defenders hitting the floor in 2024, great hands out of the backfield and can effectively utilized as a pass catcher as well as an effective stiff-arm. He will lower his pads and sit down would-be tacklers at the contact point, can break multiple tackle attempts in a single carry and continue forward for more, and is also a hard-hitting and instinctive LB and two-way starter. I wouldn’t be surprised if he joined his older brother in Jamestown, which also would happen to be a great fit skillset and projection-wise. Love watching this dude play football.

Another talented younger brother, Breckenridge’s standout RB David Erlandson is hoping to follow his older brother Daniel into the college ranks after seeing him off to the University of Jamestown in 2021, and from the way he’s been playing as an underclassman, this is well on the way to becoming reality. Erlandson, who is heading towards his third year as a varsity starter for the Cowboys, has a real knack for and excels in the physical, tough, and gritty parts of football. A lot of that aggressiveness can be explained by his standout wrestling background. Erlandson is a good wrestler who placed 4th at the NDHSAA Class 172A individual tournament after placing 5th at 160 the year before, and on the gridiron, the 5’9, 180 lb. RB displays tremendous lower body strength and contact balance. Erlandson can stay upright and run through multiple tackle attempts in a carry, sometimes as many as three or four defenders at a time, sometimes dragging massive dog piles another 5+ yards, according to his sophomore tape. He has some of the best fight in the state too. The 180 lber. refuses to go down, especially on first contact, and is visually motivated to stay up by any means necessary. He also displays good vision, solid burst, and quick feet, and he’s sudden when he sticks his cleat in the ground to make defenders miss as well. I also like his strong hands out of the backfield that can be utilized in the passing game, and he can force missed tackles and hurt defenses in a variety of ways.
