Westerville North (Ohio) Class of 2027 defensive end Damion King picked up an offer from Appalachian State, his 14th overall offer but the first one he has had in quite awhile. King, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound edge prospect, has huge upside given his frame to flourish in a college program. Moreover, he is taking care of business in the classroom, holding a 3.6 GPA and will be an early enrollee. His junior year, where he recorded 72.5 tackles and 11.5 sacks, really put him on the map.

is now up to 13 offers. A high-academic prospect, he has earned offers from Youngstown State and James Madison this month. More will almost certainly come for King, who should garner more offers during college camp season.

Damion has now been a stud for the Warriors in back-to-back seasons. He’s put up an even better season than last season, which led to him being added to our 2027 rankings at the time. He’s a balanced prospect with positives in the pass and run games. He sets the edge well and can use his arms to make plays. As a rusher, he uses his hands to shove tackles. He’s a good athlete who does well at getting great timed jumps and bursting off the line. With the season and film Damion had this season, I could see him rise in our next 2027 rankings update.

We spotlighted King in a Tuesday trench talk article 10 months ago, and he’s off to a strong start for his all-important junior season. He has a quick first step, is very disruptive and can set a vertical edge against the run. King has long arms and great use-of-hands to shed blocks and wrap up. He recorded five tackles, 0.5 sacks and four quarterback pressures against Olentangy Orange.

The EDGE for the Wildcats had a very productive sophomore season. King had a penchant for making game changing plays as he tallied 10 sacks, 7.5 TFL’s, 4 pass deflections. He did so against some of the best competition central Ohio has to offer. Along with that production Damion possesses strong physical traits. Standing at 6’4 215 pounds King has a great frame to build upon over the next couple years. He possesses desired height and length D1 coaches desire at the edge position. King rushes primarily from the standup but does show the ability to put his hand in the dirt as well. He has strong lateral movement and the ability to dip and bend to get around opposing blockers. He also uses his hand well to shed, counter, and get off blocks. As he continues to get bigger and stronger, I’m excited to see him, add more of a strength and physicality component to his game. I’d be very surprised if Damian did not start to attract D1 FBS interest in offers this summer and fall.

The young defensive end for the Warriors had a huge sophomore season racking up 10 Sacks, 7.5 TFL’s, 4 pass deflections, and 3 forced fumbles. That’s big boy production in the best big school conference in Central Ohio. King is a versatile edge rusher who can play from the stand up position and also put his hand in the dirt. He has a good burst off of the ball and the quickness to get to the edge. He can dip and bend monopolizing on undersets and oversets by opposing offensive tackles. Damion also shows good awareness and the ability to get up and bat passes down when he’s not able to get to the quarterback. If he can continue to work on getting stronger and more explosive, he will quickly take his game to another level and jump onto college recruiting radars.
