Expert Analysis
Jordan Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
Zellner is a high upside prospect and impressive natural passer. Shows clean and controlled footwork in the pocket and the ability to mix up arm angles to throw with touch or velocity. Quick processing ability showing he can work through a progression and hit his second or third reads. Throws on time with good anticipation and accuracy to all areas of the field. Good pocket movement and awareness of the rush, shows he can step up, slide laterally, and escape to open up throwing lanes. Flashes good field vision and understanding of coverages/route concepts to manipulate defenders with his eyes. Played his freshman season at Arizona College Prep before transferring to Williams Field.

is the kind of young QB you watch and immediately feel comfortable with because the baseline tools and the baseline habits are already there. The arm is plenty strong, but what stands out more is how catchable the ball is and how fast it gets out — his release is quick enough that he can avoid sacks and hit tight windows in the quick game, and that matters as the competition speeds up. He does drop the arm a bit on some throws, and when the bodies in front of him get bigger that can absolutely turn into tipped-ball headaches, but the flip side is he’s genuinely crafty with his arm angles and can still get it into throwing lanes when the picture gets messy. I also loved the pocket movement: his feet stay calm, he slides and resets without the panic steps, and it looks like he expects to have an answer even when things get muddy. Then you add in the runner piece — he’s not just a scrambler, he runs with enough toughness that defenders don’t get the free tackle they think they’re getting, and he’s got just enough speed to steal extra yards when everybody’s turning their backs in coverage. Put it all together and it feels like a really solid foundation with legitimate ceiling, especially as he keeps tightening the release point and stacking reps.

‘s got one of those natural feels for the position that you can’t really teach. He’s the kind of quarterback who just looks comfortable no matter what’s going on around him, and that’s a big deal. As a playmaker, he checks every box — you can see the thought process in real time as he works through a situation, keeps the ball secured tight to his chest while moving, and stays ready to throw at a moment’s notice. He’s slippery pocket in — he’s not sprinting out just to escape, he’s subtly shifting, buying time, and finding lanes to either deliver a dart or take off if it’s there. When he’s outside the pocket, his mechanics are still there, which means the ball comes out clean even on the move. He’s the type of player who frustrates defenses because they think they’ve got him bottled up, and then he finds a way to keep the play alive. With that kind of football IQ and playmaking ability, coaches are going to want to get in on this kid early.

Zellner spent the 2024 season doing nothing but producing and putting up impressive numbers. The right-handed Quarterback for the Chander Lobos completed 63% of passes for 1,385 yards and 23 touchdowns. When the balanced Quarterback wasn’t tossing the rock all over the barn, he showed off his mobility to the tune of 509 rushing yards and 10 additional touchdowns. Looks like a high school upperclassmen playing the position. Obviously well-trained by keeping two hands on the ball in the pocket. Eyes are constantly downfield, even while escaping pressure. Changes arm angles on passes like a Pro.
