Expert Analysis
Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
This was the easiest choice in this entire series. Cooper is the state’s all-time tackles leader for a career. He has all the tools to get him to the ball and when he arrives there is nobody better at ending plays and forward progression. Cooper attacks his opponent with violence, wraps up strong, and if he has his feet under him the senior is great at running through the tackle. As you watch through his highlights you see so many of those textbook wrap up tackles that drive the man back and you also see an athlete who will lay out for the tackle and throw his body wherever it is needed to get the stop. We need that relentlessness when building this type of Perfect Recruit.

Germantown has a major advantage on the defensive side of the ball with arguably the best defensive player in WI. The Badgers commit is the all-time tackle leader in the history of WI football and is Top 3 in tackles on the season. In 9 games the stud has collected 134 tackles, 7 TFLs, 2 sacks, 1 FR, 1 FF, and 2 INTs. Cooper can do it all. Roam sideline to sideline, tackle and get off blocks with violence, drop in coverage or fill against the run. His strength and athleticism are exactly what you would expect from a P4 commit, and his instincts for the position are exceptional. Look for him to be flying around the field Friday night making a huge impact.

Cooper is the instant thought that comes to mind when predicting the top tacklers in WI this fall. The star LB has been a varsity starter since he was a freshman and has made at least 120 tackles each of the last three seasons. His instincts, range, and of course his reliable tackling have allowed him to pile up the numbers, and this season will be no different. Catalano will be roaming the field from his LB position sideline to sideline. If Germantown can make a playoff run I won’t be surprised to see Cooper break 130 tackles this fall. The Wisconsin Badger commit is a star.

. The stud LB showed off that nose for the football in 2023, finishing Top 15 with 138 tackles. There is so much to like about his game. Sideline to sideline range. He is a downhill thumper who punishes ball carriers. He has the power to quickly get off blocks. His instincts and reaction to what he reads is so quick. I look forward to how he caps off his productive HS career. Check out his film below, Badger fans.

Stats: 13 Tackles, 2 TFLsrnCooper did exactly what you want to see from a stud LB prospect. He came into the first playoff game of the year, and was a key piece to shutting down the opposing offense. He showed off range to make tackles outside the tackles. He moved laterally smoothly to stay square with the line. The junior showed off the power, taking on blocks and shouldering them away on his way to the tackle. The opposing offense couldn’t slow him down on his way to a great day.

Cooper is smack dab in the middle of the race for the best LB in the state. He has been all over the field this season piling up 105 tackles, 14 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, 2 FF, 2 FR, 2 INTs, and 1 pick six. Catalano is a game wrecker. He is strong, rangy, hard hitting, and very instinctual. The junior fits the position perfectly and is a great chess piece when facing dangerous offenses. The junior has also been an impact in the run game on offense, finishing as the team’s leading rusher with 338 yards. Cooper can take over games on defense. I’m excited to see him do it starting Friday.
