Spring Valley had to reload at many positions this season, and 2028 RB Colton Mathis has stepped up quickly in the backfield. He had a big Week 2 performance against Parkersburg that earned him a Helmet Sticker, and after finding his film, there’s plenty to like about his game. Mathis is a smaller athlete, but his quickness and agility make him highly effective in their scheme. Mathis is elusive in the open field and does a good job making defenders miss in space. He also picked off a pass at safety, showing he can impact the game on both sides of the ball. Spring Valley has a history of producing talented running backs, and Mathis looks like he could be the next standout coming through the program.
