Roane County TE Cobun Cottrell Cobun Cottrell 6'2" | 220 lbs | TE Roane County | 2025 State WV was a great find after our winter rankings update and debuted in the 2025 rankings as the #7 rated tight end in the class. Cottrell was an impressive pass catcher for the Beavers last season in a scheme that focuses on the running game much more. He was second on the team in receiving with over 200 yards and three touchdowns as a TE/H-Back. Cottrell could possibly play defense at the next level too as an Edge or DE type player where he was also productive as a junior last season. We’d like to see some film on his blocking ability to better gauge his ability as a complete TE next season, but Cottrell has all of the athletic tools and ability to be a scholarship TE/H-Back in college.

Roane County TE Cobun Cottrell Cobun Cottrell 6'2" | 220 lbs | TE Roane County | 2025 State WV was the second-leading receiver for the Beavers in 2023 as a junior and another very promising TE on the 2025 Watch List. Cottrell caught 14 passes for 243 yards and 3 touchdowns last season in their run-heavy offense. He’s a physically impressive 6’2 220 who moves well and is a fluid athlete who could be an H-Back at the next level too. Cottrell was very productive on the defensive side of the ball too at DE totaling 31 tackles, 3 TFLs, and 3 sacks which gives him another option at the college level. He has good ball skills for his size and has the speed and quickness to create separation before and after the catch. I’d like to see some blocking highlights from him next season to gauge that aspect of the TE position, but knowing the type of offense that Roane County likes to run, I’m sure he’s very capable in that regard too. Cottrell will enter our rankings during the summer update and is another TE prospect who will likely finish in the Top 10 at the position and a name D2 schools should be watching.
