Continue ReadingThe 2025 Rankings were updated to 125 total players ranked in the class back in January but many more are on the Watch List. These Watch List players will eventually enter the rankings in the future and are names we will be watching closely next season. Here are some TEs not currently in the rankings who you should keep an eye on in the fall.
On the Watch List for his state ranking but currently in the Top 5 of our 2025 TE rankings is Madonna’s Logan Fedak Logan Fedak 6’5″ | 215 lbs | TE Madonna | 2025 WV . Fedak was light in receiving production last season but exudes potential and upside at the TE position. His defensive numbers were much higher as a DE last season but his 6’5 215 frame makes for a great TE prospect. The Brooke transfer was a welcomed addition to the Blue Dons’ small roster in 2023 and will also be a great addition to the baseball team. Although he has a limited sample size of receiving highlights, Fedak looked like a fluid athlete who is very capable of being a threat in the passing game if given more opportunities. He could easily add another 30 pounds to his long frame and could be a late bloomer at the TE position with a very high upside. Fedak is a prospect that every D2 program in the state should be looking at and keeping tabs on heading into the 2024 season.
Highlights
Spring Valley’s Will McClure Will McClure 6’1″ | 170 lbs | TE Spring Valley | 2025 WV is a bit of a TE/FB/H-Back hybrid type of player but will remain on our Watch List as a TE for now. He’s a bit unconventional for the position at his 6’1 170 size but is a blocker first in their offense and doesn’t lack any toughness at a smaller size. I expect his role to increase more during his senior year as the Timberwolves typically display a great running game in their style of offense. McClure’s unselfish nature was also on display on special teams in 2023 and is someone willing to do his part in that part of the game as well as a blocker and on coverage units. Although McClure was primarily a blocker last season, he has the athleticism to be able to tote the rock too, and could see more carries next season. He’ll also see snaps at linebacker, and if he has film at that position next season, he may be moved there in our rankings. If McLure can keep adding size he has a chance to play FB/TE at the next level as he has the other traits that you’re looking for in those positions.
Highlights
The Frankfort Falcons have a promising TE prospect in Jett McCullough Jett McCullough 6’2″ | 220 lbs | TE Frankfort | 2025 WV who flashed as a TE and DE as a junior last season. The 6’2 220 junior is no stranger to the blocking aspect of the TE position in Frankfort’s Wing-T offense, but his athleticism also popped on film. McCullough’s lateral quickness stood out at TE and DE, and although receiving highlights were limited, you could tell he could get vertical and be effective in the passing game when asked to. He’s ahead of the curve on the blocking side of things and showed a lot of versatility in the type of blocking assignments he was tasked with. McCullough can man-block the defender across from him well, but his athleticism allows him to get down to the second level easily, and does a great job pulling as a lead blocker. He’ll likely finish as a Top 10 TE in the 2025 class when it’s all said and done and is a prospect that D2 programs should be checking out.
Roane County TE Cobun Cottrell Cobun Cottrell 6’2″ | 220 lbs | TE Roane County | 2025 State WV was the second-leading receiver for the Beavers in 2023 as a junior and another very promising TE on the 2025 Watch List. Cottrell caught 14 passes for 243 yards and 3 touchdowns last season in their run-heavy offense. He’s a physically impressive 6’2 220 who moves well and is a fluid athlete who could be an H-Back at the next level too. Cottrell was very productive on the defensive side of the ball too at DE totaling 31 tackles, 3 TFLs, and 3 sacks which gives him another option at the college level. He has good ball skills for his size and has the speed and quickness to create separation before and after the catch. I’d like to see some blocking highlights from him next season to gauge that aspect of the TE position, but knowing the type of offense that Roane County likes to run, I’m sure he’s very capable in that regard too. Cottrell will enter our rankings during the summer update and is another TE prospect who will likely finish in the Top 10 at the position and a name D2 schools should be watching.
