Mount Vernon has a lot of playmakers back from last seasons National District title squad including Treavor Olmstead Treavor Olmstead 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB/WR Mt. Vernon | 2027 State VA , Jordan Figueroa Jordan Figueroa 5'7" | 170 lbs | RB Mount Vernon | 2027 State VA and Joey Lee Joey Lee 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Mt. Vernon | 2027 State VA . CJ James CJ James 5'10" | 175 lbs | WR/DB Mt. Vernon | 2027 State VA may be the most important player they have, the young man had a bunch of receptions, 1 touchdown, 1 interception and a 98 yard kickoff return. You can see the trust him and longtime staring qb Lee have. Watching them connect on a couple of third down conversions you can see the continuity they have. This kid is special and should get a boost in 2027 rankings update.

A number of reasons why the Majors are not only considered District favorites but also expected to make a deep playoff run is the amount of skill guys returning including CJ James CJ James 5'10" | 175 lbs | WR/DB Mt. Vernon | 2027 State VA . Another senior who had all district honors a year ago. James is a slot back with top notch speed. I enjoy the way Coach Holland employs him on offense, this kid can beat you on an end around or over the top.

We’ve mentioned CJ’s game-changing speed before, and he proved it this weekend during our SKLZ Speed Challenge, running the fastest time we saw all weekend, an electric 4.51 40.

With good length, great ball skills and next-level speed, we’re expecting a huge senior year for James on both sides of the ball. He’ll be a name for college coaches to watch this fall and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him playing on Saturdays in a few years.

One of Coach Holland’s rising juniors is receiver/defensive back CJ James CJ James 5'10" | 175 lbs | WR/DB Mt. Vernon | 2027 State VA . James earned all district honors as a sophomore and also has game changing speed. Personally I am more of a fan with his work at corner, he really is a master of his craft at that position. He has ball skills, hip movement and is not afraid to stick his nose into any ball carrier. A surefire tackler, James will be added to our 2027 rankings update coming late August.
