Expert Analysis
Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
A strong, quick-reacting defensive tackle with a lengthy frame and a consistent motor, Owens was an easy addition after showing he can push the pocket backwards while creating havoc in the backfield. He can rush the quarterback from the inside and close the running lanes between the tackles. He brings a strong 6-foot-3 265-pound frame and showed last season he’s good enough to play at the D1-level. Now, Owens is ranked by Prep Redzone as the No. 35 DL prospect in the state for the 2027 class after an impressive junior season where he made 55 tackles and three sacks to go along with one fumble recovery and another forced fumble.

A fast-rising defensive lineman in Southeast Georgia, Owens is an active interior linemen who shows a strong bull-rush and the ability to pressure the quarterback from the inside. He showed impressive quickness for his size and made 55 tackles last season with three sacks. His potential is easy to see with a 6-foot-3 265-pound frame that should allow him to keep adding more muscle mass over time. He’s a defensive lineman on the rise who added recent offers this week from Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State. He should also see a new ranking come his way in the next spring rankings update.
