I thought it was a really impressive day 2 for Poynter, who also flashed on day 1. If I had to bet on any skill player at this tournament blossoming into a P4 prospect, it would be this kid. He is all of 6’3 190, built far beyond his years with a strong frame. He is a basketball athlete, and a good one at that, evidenced by his ability to win above the rim. He is a natural mismatch, but he showed some physicality to fight for positioning when the ball was in the air, making him an even tougher guard. Really impressive prospect from a traits perspective.

Chi was a dominant presence for Playmakers Elite. His size and athleticism are unmatched by anyone else I’ve seen this weekend in 15U. His catch radius is huge. His vertical get-off is impressive, and he has surprising YAC ability for his size. I see why PRZ Kentucky has him listed in their top 25 in the 2028 class.

Poynter is a long, tall athlete with a good build that he is starting to fill out. He’s got long strides and chews up the cushions DBs give him on the line. He shows good twitch as a route runner, with the ability to sink and redirect cleanly at the top of routes. His change of direction is fluid, and he consistently tracks and adjusts to the football at a high level. His ball skills were some of the best of the entire camp, and he gives his QB a massive target. He’s a redzone threat and was one of the options that Riley could force-feed. The stop-and-start ability he has really separates him from the pack. He’s young and incredibly talented.

Chi Poynter Chi Poynter 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR Bardstown | 2028 State KY is another receiver who burst onto the scene as a sophomore. Poynter finished this past season as Bardstown’s leading receiver, catching 55 passes for 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns in 11 games. Chi is a very reliable jump ball threat as he has the athleticism to out jump opposing defensive backs along with the strong hands to bring in catches through contact. He is also dangerous after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness to turn short passes into big plays. Chi also scored two rushing touchdowns as a sophomore. Poynter holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and I fully expect more to come his way heading into his junior year.

He has also proven to be a reliable red zone target, using his athleticism to go up and catch jump balls at their highest point with ease. Poynter also scored two rushing touchdowns this season. Chi doesn’t currently hold any offers but he should be a player to keep a close eye on heading into his junior year.
