Nick Rock | Prep Redzone Scout
Brown sizes up with a slender frame and build at 6’3″ 180lbs with room to add mass and is a solid pocket passer. Good overall mechanics in the pocket, standing tall and collected and delivers with a smooth, effortless release. Excellent touch on those vertical balls to frequently make it easy for his receivers. I like his instincts on when to abandon the pass and escape the pocket and vice versa- knowing when to hang in the pocket despite anticipating a hit. He’ll enter his senior and 4th season as the Flag High starter so I expect him to play with a chip on his shoulder.

Brown is another kid I talked about a few weeks back, as I think he’s prone for a breakout senior season and could draw the attention he’s been working for, along with a shot to put Flag High back on the map in 4A. Long, slender frame at 6’3″ 180lbs with room to add mass and he does a good job standing tall in the pocket to deliver strikes with good timing. He knows he’s tasked with a big role as a 4-year varsity starter now- so I’m really looking forward to see what he can bring to the table here this fall.

Brown enters his senior season as a 4 year varsity starter for Flagstaff and has had similar numbers for the past two years. He sizes up with a slender frame at 6’3″ 170lbs with room to add mass. He does a good job standing tall in the pocket and you can see him go through progression, and delivers with a smooth release. Excellent 3-ball thrower as he frequently puts it up and out there with good trajectory and touch. This could and should be his year to pop off and really draw in that attention and offers.

had himself quite an impressive day throwing the ball on Thursday night. Going for 310 yards, three touchdowns, and no turnovers on the night, he showed both poise and passion while delivering strikes to every part of the field. Brown did a great job of reading defenders all night to find the best matchup and is able to deliver the ball from multiple different arm angles to get the ball through the open throwing lanes without losing accuracy. Not a major threat to run the rock, he still manages to escape the pocket well and has really nice form on the run. Using plenty of torque in his upper body, he doesn’t seem to lose any arm strength when throwing on the move. Maybe the most impressive stat is the zero turnovers through 34 attempts. Brown’s decision-making was on point throughout the game and often put Flagstaff’s offense in favorable positions.

is a methodical quarterback out of Flagstaff with a very calm demeanor. His 6’3″ 180 lbs frame isn’t very common to see in someone heading into just their junior season. Brown is a player I truly think is underrated, and perhaps his biggest strength is one of the biggest reasons. He’s not a quarterback who’s going to force the deep ball and is very willing to take what the defense is giving to him. Brown was able to spread the ball around so much last season that Flagstaff had six different pass-catchers surpass 100 yards, and two with more than 400. That’s not to say he can’t throw it deep; with his frame, Brown boasts an excellent arm and some nice touch to go with it. With some focus on keeping his eyes downfield and trying to stay in the pocket a touch longer, Brown’s average of 170 yards a game could easily skyrocket up over 200.
