Charlie Taaffe Charlie Taaffe 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Vestavia Hills | 2027 State AL is a talented QB from Vestavia Hills who’s headed into a huge senior season this upcoming fall.

“Taaffe is a really fun QB to watch- he makes quick decisions, has a great arm, is extremely mobile, and can do so much with the ball in his hands. As a passer, Taafe accurately delivers the ball anywhere on the field- he does a great job reading defenses and consistently can find and accurately hit his WRs.

Outside of his passing, Taaffe is explosive and keeps defenses on their heels with his legs. Taafe is really quick on his feet, plays with great speed, and can make defenders miss when he’s on the run- consistently coming up with huge gains/scoring plays on the ground.“

Taaffe has consistently gotten better year after year and is coming off his best season to date last fall. We all need to be sure to watch out for this upcoming year. I think he’ll have a great season through the air and on the ground. You can see it in his tape below:

Taaffe handles QB duties for Vestavia Hills, but might project best as a skill player long-term. Still, he deserves some flowers for his QB play. Plays with controlled aggression and can tap into different arm angles to bend the ball around defenders. He is best as a runner. He is explosive, stout, and downhill. He will drop his shoulder to finish runs violently and tack on a few extra yards. He is a noteworthy baseball prospect, but I think he deserves some more love in football.

Taafe is a really fun QB to watch- he makes quick decisions, has a great arm, is extremely mobile, and can do so much with the ball in his hands. As a passer, Taafe accurately delivers the ball anywhere on the field- he does a great job reading defenses and consistently can find and accurately hit his WRs. Taafe was really productive for Vestavia’s offense last season, completing 98/151 passing attempts for 1361 yards and 9 touchdowns, with an additional 103 carries for 631 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. Taafe is a really talented dual threat who has found ways to make plays with his arm and legs all year long. Last week against Tuscaloosa County, Taafe put together a terrific performance and helped lead his team to a 42-0 shutout win. Taafe makes quick decisions, has a great arm, is extremely mobile, and has a great understanding of how and when to use his legs. Taafe can throw the ball with some great accuracy- he does a great job reading defenses and consistently finds and hits receivers all across the field. Taafe keeps defenses honest with his rushing ability as well, he has a ton of speed and elusiveness he uses to make plays on the run. It was easy to see these skills show up last week against Tuscaloosa County, Taafe went out and completed 11-of-15 passing for 235 yards and 2 touchdowns, with 11 carries for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground as well. Taafe has played like one of the top passers in the state’s 2027 class this season, he’s developed nicely and has plenty of potential going forward. Watch out for him for the rest of this season, he’s bound to keep making plays!

Taafe has been off to a great start in his sophomore season- he makes quick decisions, has a great arm, is extremely mobile, and has a great understanding of his offense and his role within it. As a passer, Taafe can accurately deliver the ball anywhere on the field- he does a great job reading defenses and consistently can find and accurately hit receivers in stride. Taafe is a great dual threat as well, he has a ton of speed and elusiveness he uses to create and make a bunch of plays on the run. You could see all of this on tape last Friday in his team’s 49-17 win over Hillcrest- Taafe ended the game completing 11-of-17 passing attempts for 191 yards and two touchdowns, with an additional 18 carries for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground. It was extremely impressive watching what Taafe did in this game- with how well he’s played, he’s going to be a player to keep track of the rest of this year!
