Coming in at number five on my list is Cayden Varney Cayden Varney 6'2" | 170 lbs | ATH/DB Belfry | 2026 State KY , an athlete at Belfry High School. Varney impresses me with his size, speed and ability to be explosive on both sides. Defensively, I like how Varney can shut down the rush from along the edge. I also like Varney’s ability to disrupt receivers in coverage, using his versatile edge and catching ability to break up deep passes.

Another player that impressed as a freshman this past season is Cayden Varney Cayden Varney 6'2" | 170 lbs | ATH/DB Belfry | 2026 State KY from Belfry. On defense, Varney plays on the outside at corner and finished this past season with 30 tackles and two interceptions. He is impressive in man coverage, showing the ability to open up and run with receivers to mirror their routes. Varney has also shown the ability to time his breaks perfectly to catch interceptions in stride, returning one interception for a touchdown this past season. On offense, Varney took some carries out of the backfield, finishing this past season with 28 rushes for 140 yards and a touchdown. He also caught one touchdown. Varney doesn’t currently hold any offers but should be a player to watch on both sides of the ball over the next few seasons.
