A few Farmington defenders have nice midseason highlight tapes. Carter has made a handful of excellent plays this season.
Kicking off his tape is a phenomenal play against Seaholm (playing edge). He earns a free rush and punishes the Maple QB on one of their rare passing plays. Not a sack, but absolutely forced that incompletion. Another play at edge (0:48), Carter perfectly covers the pitch man and earns a TFL. Finally, 0:12 is a nice highlight playing the 3-tech. Nice job getting off the ball and hammering the RB.
I feel that Carter is at his best when he’s in a 2-point stance playing the 5 tech, or even outside of that. He does a nice job forcing runs inside, and rushing the passer.

from Farmington. He’s someone I first discovered from my Hudl Discoveries series, and someone I expect to have a breakout season this Fall. In fact, he’s in my Top 7 breakout candidates of the OAA Blue.
It doesn’t look like Carter was a full-time Varsity starter, but when he was out there, he played incredibly well. I especially like his IQ (reactivity, anticipation) against the run, and his motor. Against outside runs, Carter does a great job at working past potential blockers to eventually make a tackle. In addition, he seems to play with great confidence and good physicality- great for a Sophomore on Varsity. We’ll see how Carter fares moving forward, but this is a linebacker that I’m quite optimistic about.
