About Carter
Expert Analysis
Corey Bailey | Prep Redzone Scout
Hess is an interior tackle whose power is overwhelming for his opponents. He resets the line of scrimmage and bull rushes offensive linemen out of the way. He’s the DJ to the party in the backfield for fort hill but only hold 1 offer from Fordham so far. Hess may be the best defensive tackle, not talked about enough.

After evaluating his 2023 defensive film it’s clear that Hess may be one of the best defensive tackles/nose guards in the state. Carter shows tremendous strength, and his leverage on contact helps his case a lot. He’s almost undeniable in a bull rush situation, once he gets under the centers hands you can bet he’ll be 5 yards in the backfield. Hess benches 225lbs for 27 reps, and at 6’2 285lbs he has a great advantage against his opponents. This season Hess showed more than brute strength and added some finesse to his game with swim moves and hand fighting to maneuver around blockers. Hess is a prospect that will be tending after a big season this upcoming season, he should be on your recruiting board early. He is dominant, but still growing as a player in all aspects. Lookout for Hess at the next Trench Combat Gauntlet showcase again this offseason, last year he proved to be able to compete amongst the DMV’s big time recruits.

Hess has been showing exactly what we saw at The TCA Gauntlet: Trench Combat Academy Showcase. He bull rushes right through offensive lines and once he gets his hand on the ball carrier they’re going down. His pure strength even shows on the offensive side of the ball where he’s racked up a few pancake blocks through the regular season. Hess is already seen as one of the best linemen prospects in the league and region, but his breakout is yet to come. Keep an eye on his growth over the next few months, he’s already 6’2 290+lbs, a couple of inches and he’ll be a definite D1 prospect, the talent and strength are there. Hess continues to lead Fort Hill down a back-to-back state championship road.
