Today we are taking a look at the class of 2024’s defensive prospects that stood out from this thread of athletes. We will include recruits who are new names to us that are separating themselves from the pack and some familiar faces too.
Immediately Browns talent and big play ability jumps off of the screen. His tape starts off with 2 interceptions and 2 special teams touchdowns. Brown is a dynamic player and can change the game in all three aspects of the game defensively with his ball skills and coverage range, special teams using speed, and offensively using his elusiveness. He not only plays great coverage, but he comes down and lays the boom in run support. Brown is a weapon in the defensive secondary and stepped up as a gamechanger for the Cavaliers. Browns recruiting is heated up, thus far he holds 6 offers from Yale, Campbell, and UPenn to name a few.

After evaluating his 2023 defensive film it’s clear that Hess may be one of the best defensive tackles/nose guards in the state. Carter shows tremendous strength, and his leverage on contact helps his case a lot. He’s almost undeniable in a bull rush situation, once he gets under the centers hands you can bet he’ll be 5 yards in the backfield. Hess benches 225lbs for 27 reps, and at 6’2 285lbs he has a great advantage against his opponents. This season Hess showed more than brute strength and added some finesse to his game with swim moves and hand fighting to maneuver around blockers. Hess is a prospect that will be tending after a big season this upcoming season, he should be on your recruiting board early. He is dominant, but still growing as a player in all aspects. Lookout for Hess at the next Trench Combat Gauntlet showcase again this offseason, last year he proved to be able to compete amongst the DMV’s big time recruits.

Williams stands out as a true cover corner, which is a staple in a great defense. He’s a versatile DB playing corner, and safety, demonstrating man, zone and run support from each position. In coverage he plays true to his eyes by keeping them focused on his assignments, if the receiver has a step on him, he stays in full sprint until he meets the receiver and plays through the hands. In run support he rakes at the ball and wraps his opponents up, rarely going for the big hit. Pallotti shows confidence in his all-around athleticism by using his speed and ball skills at receiver.
The 2-time All-County DB is an absolute weapon for Blair, he’s a mismatch on both sides of the ball and is dangerous in the return game. offensively Blair uses his speed to take the top off the defense and trusts Seiken to come down with contested deep balls. These impressive offensive skills translate great to the defensive side of the ball. Along with good coverage and speed, his ball skills are as good or better than the receivers he covers. When the ball is in the air he turns into the receiver after securing coverage. Seiken is a plus to have on your roster on either side of the ball he’s a versatile plug and play player that will make an impact on the game.

Right off the bat this LB/Edge rusher shows tremendous athleticism with 2 pick 6’s, one in the state championship game. A backer that can outrun an offense, fly around in pass coverage and show productiveness around the line of scrimmage should be a prospect to stay on the lookout for. Preparing for Campbell in the 2023 season will be hectic for offenses, you have to account for his ability to line up in the interior line, edge and linebacker, not many players can produce at all three positions. Anothny recorded a host of TFL’s and sacks to go along with a couple turnovers, we will see a lot more of Anthony as he returns to make a 3rd run at States with the tenacious Dunbar defense.
