Expert Analysis

This is my first look at Brooks, who has emerged as a premier player on the defensive front in the region. The FBS offers here are no sham. He plays exactly the way he needs to play at 6’2. He is strong at the point, active with his hands, and has the speed and pursuit skills to chase the ball in space. He can be trusted to make plays in the backfield and rally after the ball. Just an impressive athlete at his size with obvious FBS tools, and I am expecting more schools to get involved here.

Bryson Brooks Bryson Brooks 6'3" | 280 lbs | DL Pike Road | 2027 State AL is a talented DL from Pike Road who’s heading into a huge senior year this fall.
“At 6’3 280, Brooks has the size, speed, and power to consistently dominate on Pike Road’s defensive front. I’m really impressed by his ability to play the run; he can consistently blow up the line of scrimmage and take down the ball carrier for little gain or loss.
I really think Brooks is set up for a MASSIVE senior season. He has a dominant skill set that helps him make plays every down against the run and pass- it’s going to be exciting watching him and the rest of Pike Road’s defense this fall.“
Brooks had a huge season for Pike Road this past fall. Do yourself a favor and watch some of his tape below; you’ll come away impressed.

Brooks is an interior presence who wins with control, strength, and technique. His first step consistently puts blockers on the defensive, allowing him to establish leverage early in reps. He uses heavy, active hands to disengage and counter, showing the ability to shed cleanly or reset the line of scrimmage. His pad level and anchor make him difficult to move, especially in the run game where he forces backs to redirect.
As a pass rusher, he doesn’t just push — he compresses the pocket with intent. There’s consistent leg drive through contact, and he works to collapse depth rather than just create surface pressure. He understands how to stack and shed while maintaining gap integrity. His production reflects his impact, but the film shows a player controlling reps snap to snap. He’s a tone-setter inside who affects both phases.

I’ve been really impressed with Brooks play over the last year. He’s become a dominant piece of Pike Road’s DL and has seen his recruitment pick up with how well he’s played. If you haven’t watched him before, be sure to check out his film below:

Brooks is a technically sound interior defender with a disruptive first step and powerful upper body. His ability to win with his hands — disengaging or countering with a swim move — consistently allowed him to control the point of attack and produce 9 tackles, 2 tackle for losses, and a sack.
Brooks’ pad level and anchor strength make him difficult to move in the run game, while his first-step quickness enables him to compress pockets from the inside. His versatility to both hold ground and pressure the quarterback makes him a key interior chess piece in the postseason.

A few weeks back, Brooks picked up his first offer from South Alabama! With how well Brooks has played as an underclassman, this will be the first of many more to come- just watch.
