About Brodie
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I think I am a very athletic LB who diagnoses well and can slips blocks. I do a good job of shooting gaps and timing blitzing. I try to attack downhill and arrive with violence. My goal is to cover sideline to sideline and make TFLs.
I play within the system of the defense and trust my teammates to do their job so I can fucus on mine. Control the controllable: attitude and effort.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I am a grinder. I focus on what I can control, my attitude and effort. I have learned that through adversity comes opportunity. I love the grind and the process. I am learning to not focus so much on the end result. I try to take something positive away from every experience. If I can do this; then I never lose.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I volunteer with the Pollack Family Foundation. There are two main events. The Banquet of Blessing is a Thanksgiving/Holiday event. I help greet homeless and people in need and direct them to various areas. I also help in the food line with serving food. The other event is the PFF Golf Tournament. I drive sponsors to their holes and help where I am needed with other activities for the tournament.,
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I am getting better at being more of a vocal leader, but I would say my leadership style is more through my actions. I try to lift up and encourage my teammates and the best way to do that is to show them that I'm doing the work too. I mentioned the community service I am a part of above.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Heading into the summer I broke my wrist trying to clean 285lbs. I was playing some outside linebacker and had a chance to get significant playing time in the fall. Breaking my wrist set me back because I couldn't really do anything until mid-July.
I stayed positive. Continued to work as hard as I could. I ended up moving back to MLB and started the last 6 games of the season.
What type of college are you looking for?
My main focus is finding a college program that focuses on development. Our coaches at North Oconee coach us hard so I am used to that type of coach. I want to be the best player that I can become. I would like to be part of a program that can help me develop professional skills outside football too.
