Braylen shows excellent range in coverage, quickly closing space and keeping up with faster receivers. He has a natural sense for jumping routes and breaking on the ball, which makes him a playmaker in the secondary. One area he’s still developing is tackling in open space, where he sometimes takes angles that allow extra yardage. Despite that, his awareness and ability to read the quarterback make him a key contributor, and he consistently puts himself in position to make impact plays for his defense.

Cunningham has wasted no time proving he can hold up as a varsity defensive back. In Week 3 against Denton Guyer, he tallied five tackles and an interception while allowing just one completion in coverage. Cunningham’s technique, fluid feet, and ability to mirror receivers in space stand out immediately. He brings a competitive edge to the position, showing both lockdown coverage skills and a willingness to step up in run support. He also projects as a dangerous special teams asset. North Crowley has leaned on him early, and he has delivered with the type of consistency you rarely see from a freshman defender.

Cunningham was outstanding and played well beyond his years. Confident and poised, he excelled in press coverage with violent hands and showed the speed to stick with receivers in phase. He also contributed in run support and on special teams, where a big return set up a North Crowley score. With offers already from SMU, Penn State, and Texas, Cunningham proved he’s one of the top defenders in his class.

The UA Next 8th Grade All-American Game is an opportunity for some of the country’s best middle school talent to make an introduction to the next level; You can check that off the list of things accomplished by Cunningham, who hauled in two interceptions in the contest. Looks excellent as a Free Safety and plays an opportunistic style of football. The Crowley, TX native has a ton of range and is bordering on elite when it comes to coming over the top and providing bracket coverage on Wide Receivers attempting to go deep.
