He has tremendous range in the secondary and he has the ability to use his speed to cover a ton of ground quickly when the ball is in the air, often going unnoticed by the quarterback. Smith has shown very good ball skills when the ball is thrown his way, coming away with two interceptions in 12 games (tied for team lead) this past season. He has also shown the ability to come downhill to make tackles against the run, finishing his freshman year with 51 tackles. Brandon has received some college interest and I expect his recruitment to continue to heat up going into his sophomore year.

Smith stepped into a full-time varsity starting role as a freshman and looked like he belonged. He has good length, sees the field well, and covers a lot of ground from sideline to sideline. He’s a reliable tackler who breaks down well in space and also has the ball skills to come away with PBUs when the opportunity is there. More than anything, he strikes me as a smart player who rarely looks out of position. Earning that kind of role as a freshman says a lot, and he handled it about as well as you could ask. If he puts everything together, the future is incredibly bright.

He has shown excellent ball skills when the ball is thrown in his direction, finishing his freshman year with two interceptions in 12 games (tied for team lead). Smith has also shown the ability to make plays against the run, finishing this past season with 51 tackles. Brandon will be a player to keep an eye on as he continues to develop moving forward.

Has been able to dunk a basketball since seventh-grade. Has the size, speed and hands to become a very special player over the next four years.
