Trench Players to Watch for the Virginia Class of 2027

You can tell he’s been coached very well at LCA due to his consistent display of above-average technique. Some high school centers have a hard time snapping the ball and stepping at the same time, but Collins is very smooth with it. He’s very in-tune with his upper body as well and has a beautiful snap/trigger (snapping the ball and then punching with his off-hand), which allows him to gain a quick leverage advantage early on in each rep. Collins is an excellent puller as well, which bodes well for his outlook at the next level.
He recently received his first D1 offer from Norfolk State, and if he continues on his current path, it definitely won’t end up being his last high-level offer.
Per his X account (formerly known as Twitter), Collins racked up 52 pancakes last season and allowed only two sacks. After watching his highlights, that stat makes sense. He moves very well for his size, and when he pulls, it’s a problem for whoever is in his way. Collins plays with a nasty disposition and generates push at the point of attack. I’m impressed with his ability to adjust his path to locate and engage with moving targets.
Capping off his first year as a full-time varsity starter, Brady is a versatile interior offensive lineman who found himself a home at left guard in 2024. He is stout in stature and displays one of the best motors of the players I have seen live. He is quick off the ball, playing with good leverage in all blocks. He has that leg drive and strength to win in Base, Down, and Double Team blocks, and the athleticism to pull and perform a good kickout block. He is strong in pass protection, giving up zero sacks on the season playing in the competitive Seminole District in central Virginia. He is a name to watch over the next couple of seasons.
LCA’s other sophomore guard came and also held his own. The interior lineman excelled in 1v1s. He is a gritty player in the trenches who has a mindset as an enforcer on the field. He can play both Guard and Center at the next level and has the strength to prevent the pocket form collapsing in his pass pro. On the field, he is a run blocking mauler. Bright future ahead for Brady.
Brady is another one of the up-and-coming sophomores starting on Liberty Christian’s offensive line who shows that he belongs on the Varsity stage. Starting at Left Guard, he is coming off the ball with very good pad level and explosiveness, creating good leverage that allows him to drive his man out of the gap. He is a good pull blocker with the strength to kick defenders out and has the athleticism to lead through the hole and block on the second level. Displays good lateral movement in Zone blocking schemes with good footwork to set himself up to sustain the block. He also has the versatility to play Center.
Taking reps at Left Guard in the recent scrimmage, I expect we will see Brady as the starter for LCA this fall, and be the backup Center. I previously wrote that he has very good upside due to his ability to block in both Gap and Zone schemes and sustain the blocks. If he does earn the starting role, I would not be shocked if he establishes himself as one of the best interior offensive linemen in central Virginia.
Brady is an interior offensive line prospect who can play both Guard and Center and played on LCA’s JV and Varsity team last season. He comes off the snap with good quickness, explosion, and pad level. He gains a grip on the defensive lineman and has good sustain on his blocks. At Center, he can quickly snap the ball and be in position to block without missing a beat. Shows the ability to be utilized in both Gap and Zone schemes and has the athleticism to get to the second level to block linebackers. He has very good upside and will be someone to watch in the next few seasons as he continues to grow and develop.
