We had to have Blake as our Run After the Catch Build. It seemed like he spent over half the season as an RB for PdC. That experience running through the trenches has helped him out in space. He understands how to make defenders miss, has the speed to beat pursuit angles, and will run angry. Having an athlete who can win with speed or power when he gets out in space gives the defense so much trouble, and that is what Thiry has to offer. The Indiana commit is going to be so fun to watch as he learns and develops at the TE position.

. The Indiana commit dominated defenses as a runner and as a receiver. It is crazy that he was able to be responsible for over half the yards and almost 2/3 of the team’s TD despite not being a QB. Thiry left no doubt that his size, strength, and athleticism are an unmatched combination and nearly impossible to slow down at this level. The tri-faceted athlete also was Top 5 on his defense in the key categories for a front seven athlete.

The top recruit in this game, and one of the best in the state was

. The TE commit was used mostly in the backfield. At the HS level Blake has the athleticism and power to honestly thrive anywhere, so getting him involved in the run game was definitely a smart plan this season. Blake’s big, powerful frame was a load to bring down all night long. He flashed the ability to power over defenders or throw them aside with a powerful stiff arm. The speed was there to get to the edge too. The receiving reps we got to see were also impressive. Blake was able to show that he could use his body to create separation. We also saw his strong hands rip the ball away from a DB at one point. I can’t wait to see him develop as a TE at the Power 4 level. Good luck at the next level, Blake!

Back to Wisconsin and their incredibly talented 2025 TE class. These dudes are not only standouts on the gridiron, but all have decorated track backgrounds bordering and crossing into freaky territory when you combine it with their size. Prairie Du Chien’s Blake Thiry, a recent Indiana Hoosier commit, plays RB, WR, TE, and LB at 6’4, 220 lbs., and he’s also a nationally-rated long snapper to complete the three-phase trifecta. As I mentioned, the track times are quite impressive, especially given the events that Thiry competes in. He’s PRed with a 14.89 110M hurdle, 40.08 300M hurdle, 22’4.25″ long jump, and 45’10.25″ triple jump, qualifying for state and medaling in all four of those events, including breaking his own school record in the triple jump with that aforementioned jump. Thiry earned 10 D1 offers for his efforts, and also owns a 470 lb. squat, 280 lb. bench, and 290 lb. clean. Indiana got a big-time steal here.
As mentioned, Thiry is a three-phase contributor whose speed, dynamic ability, and contested catch prowess are all very impressive for a 6’4, 220 lber., and backs up the great track times and P4 commitment status in only a couple reps of his junior film. The 2023 Conference Player of the Year, as well as an All-State selection as both a TE and OLB, Thiry caught 35 passes for 620 yards and 6 TDs (17.7 YPC average) as well as 1,184 rushing yards and 19 TDs on a 9.8 YPC average as a junior with PDCHS. He displays excellent 50/50 ball and high-pointing ability, using noticeable bounce, timing, concentration, ball skills, and body control to pluck the ball right out of the air over sometimes multiple helpless DBs. I also like his big catch radius and strong hands, and his speed and burst as a route runner flash freakiness against small-school Wisconsin competition. The top-end speed can help him win vertically and take the top off the defense. Thiry also bounces off tackle attempts like a pinball machine as a RB and demonstrates great contact balance and takes advantage of his long and powerful legs that help him slip through tackle attempts. Matchup nightmare for various reasons, I think Indiana got a major recruiting win and sleeper here.

Rankings Jump: #87 up to #5rnBlake has clearly put in the work since last summer. He clearly made the junior season leap that has launched him into the #1 uncommitted offensive player slot. Blake checks every box for a Power 4 TE. He has a strong, big frame that has plenty of room to continue to fill out. It will be scary trying to stop him then because the 220 lbs junior was already a nightmare after the catch and when they used him at RB. Thiry is able to lower his shoulder and gain the tough yards, break tackles, and has special contact balance for a kid his size. In the passing game Blake is a QB’s dream. He knows how to use his size to create separation, boxing out DBs. He high points the ball with strong hands and leaping ability. The big man also runs very smooth routes for a kid his size. His body control, balance, and flexibility all shine in his routes. Thiry is the type of mismatch at TE that teams dream of in today’s game. Big, strong, athletic, and flexible. He checks every box and should be the top offensive target for FBS teams recruiting WI.

This is why I said ignore the rankings at the beginning of the article. The order they are in here is the order you will see them when the rankings come out in a couple weeks. Blake will be up at TE2 after a dominant 2023 season. The 6’4″ 220 lbs junior is a rare athlete at his size. So much so that we even saw Blake at RB quite a bit this season. Prairie du Chien feeds it to him however they can. Blake brings track speed to the football field. As a receiver we see him able to stack DBs when he gets a chance to. He eats up the massive cushion that is usually used on him with his long strides and acceleration. At the catch Blake dominates too. We see him go over the top of DBs and grab it. Blake is able to reel in catches through contact. His ball skills catching and tracking the ball are exceptional. Thiry rounds out his talent with physicality after the catch. For all the impressive athleticism he has, Blake flips a switch when he needs to fight through tackles. The arrow is pointing straight up for Blake.
