Billy was a workhorse all season long for the Irish. He’s a compact kid who has a low center of gravity that makes him incredibly hard to bring down on first contact. On top of the balance, he also has quick feet and a great burst through the hole and will kill you in the open field. His breakaway speed is well above average and will break multiple long ones per game. All of that being said, he’s also just a great kid. I’ve had a number of interactions with Billy and he shows he is a confident leader, a hard worker and one of the most respectful kids you’ll run across. Billy absolutely deserves a shot at the next level!

I’m very interested to see if Billy earns any late recruiting attention after this season. I’ve been getting stats from ND Prep for most of the season, and Billy has been doing exceptionally well. For instance, last week against Corunna, Billy totaled 142 yards and 1 TD on just 10 carries.

This week against Armada, Billy has a great opportunity to have another 100+ yard game, even against a solid defense. I think that, no matter the outcome, Billy will put up good stats.

I feel that Billy has solid Division 3 potential. There’s no doubt that he’s above average when it comes to athleticism, conditioning, and contact balance. Especially if he has good athletic testing numbers, I could easily see colleges becoming interested.

However, the thing is, the Running Back position may be the most saturated position in football. Most colleges I talk to are not urgently recruiting running backs.

I had the opportunity to watch Billy Collins Billy Collins 5'9" | 165 lbs | RB Notre Dame Prep | 2025 State MI a couple of weeks ago as ND Prep blew out Grand Rapids Catholic Central.

I love how varied and balanced the ND Prep offense is, and Billy is a huge part of that. First off, Billy is one of the better receiving backs in the state. Routes in the flat, wheel, screens, you name it- Billy is a phenomenal receiving threat. Billy can also run between the tackles as good as anyone. He doesn’t have top-end athleticism, but his vision and burst are enough to do damage against just about any Division 5 school.

In terms of recruiting, my gut says Billy is a fringe D3 prospect.
